Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have dominated men\u2019s tennis for two years now, collecting the last eight available Grand Slam titles.<\/p>\n

The pair are undoubtedly the two best players alive, and currently maintain a 5,000+ point gap to the world number three, Alexander Zverev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Just as they did in 2024, Sinner and Alcaraz won two Grand Slams each in 2025<\/a>, as the Italian triumphed in Melbourne and London, and the Spaniard in Paris and New York.<\/p>\n

Their rivalry intensified with three major final meetings, the first of which may well go down as one of the greatest of all time (2025 French Open<\/a> final).<\/p>\n

Ahead of his participation in this week\u2019s Hellenic Championship, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic<\/a> weighed in with his thoughts on Sinner and Alcaraz\u2019s rivalry.<\/p>\n

The Serbian legend first commented on the differences between his rivalries with Rafael Nadal<\/a> and Roger Federer, and Sinner and Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery different, because I\u2019ve spent most of my career with my two greatest rivals, [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer<\/a>,\u201d said Djokovic.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> and Jannik Sinner are also my rivals at the moment, but they are so young, and I have 15 years of difference on the tour with them. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur rivalry is a few years old, and I\u2019ve had 20 years of rivalry with the other guys.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not really comparable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Djokovic proceeded to share his thoughts on the rivalry between the world number one and two.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great that there is a new big rivalry in our sport, between Sinner<\/a> and Alcaraz,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been playing some incredible matches in the last 18 months, and hopefully they can keep going because that\u2019s what our sport needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sinner and Alcaraz have now met 15 times in total, as the Spaniard leads their head-to-head, 10-5.<\/p>\n

If they keep going at this rate, their rivalry could rank as one of the greatest of all time.<\/p>\n

Speaking of legendary rivalries\u2026 Djokovic wished he could go back in time to witness two icons of the sport face off in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

Asked to pick a match from history he\u2019d like to have been a part of, there was only one answer for Djokovic.<\/p>\n

\u201cProbably one of the epic Borg\/McEnroe matches that I\u2019d love to witness from the stands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr, I would love to have had an opportunity to play with a wooden racket and compete and see the difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would probably struggle a lot to hit heavy topspins with that, but I love the history of our game, so it\u2019s amazing to see how the game has evolved in terms of technology and everything in the last 50 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would have loved to have witnessed that era.\u201d<\/p>\n

McEnroe and Borg<\/a> played 22 times between November 1978 and September 1981.<\/p>\n

Their rivalry was described as \u2018fire and ice\u2019, given the contrasting personalities of the two players.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz and Sinner aren\u2019t quite the polar opposites that Borg and McEnroe were, but it will be interesting to see how their rivalry develops over the coming years.<\/p>\n
