What comes in Musk’s favour is that Isaacman’s appointment comes after weeks of online sniping from Elon Musk at Sean Duffy, who has been leading NASA in an interim capacity. What seems to have angered Musk is Duffy’s comment that Elon Musk’s SpaceX is lagging behind schedule. In an interview with CNBC, Duffy said that he believes SpaceX, which has a $2.9 billion contract to provide the lunar lander astronauts would ride to the Moon\u2019s surface, is behind schedule, potentially hurting NASA\u2019s efforts to return humans to the Moon before China. \u201cSo, I\u2019m going to open up the contract. I\u2019m going to let other space companies compete with SpaceX,\u201d he said.Following these statements, Musk lashed out at Duffy in a series of posts on Twitter. Senators voted to approve his nomination, sending it to the full Senate for a final vote.
