I\u2019m not going to comment,\u201d the future Hall of Famer said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 32-year-old Binnington did not speak postgame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ovechkin\u2019s 900th goal put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/washington-capitals\/15\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/washington-capitals\/15\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Capitals<\/a> up 2-0 on Tuesday and Binnington\u2019s tough start to the season continued Wednesday as he was pulled with the Blues down 4-0 midway through the second period. He finished with 11 saves on 15 shots in the 6-1 loss, which dropped his record to 3-5-2 on the season with an .859 save percentage and a 3.34 goals-against average.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">After backstopping Canada to victory at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Binnington remains a likely choice for the Olympic team in February. He could potentially share the net at the Milan Cortina Games with Capitals goaltender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/logan-thompson\/8480313\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/logan-thompson\/8480313\" target=\"_blank\">Logan Thompson<\/a>, who appeared to give Binnington the benefit of the doubt Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI was just so happy \u2018O\u2019 got it,\u201d Thompson said, per The Athletic. \u201cI don\u2019t know, maybe he was trying to grab it to give it to him. Who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ovechkin will look to continue to set the NHL goals record Thursday as the Capitals face the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/pittsburgh-penguins\/5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/pittsburgh-penguins\/5\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> and his career-long rival, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/sidney-crosby\/8471675\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/sidney-crosby\/8471675\" target=\"_blank\">Sidney Crosby<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jordan Binnington appeared to attempt to hold on to a piece of history Wednesday night.
