The first Trump administration was so wild \u2026 I felt like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we\u2019ve learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference whatsoever on who people vote for. So then what am I doing? I\u2019m just sharing my opinion on something that\u2019s going to add fuel to a fire that\u2019s ripping the country apart. We are so divided,\u201d Lawrence said.<\/p>\n Back in 2015, Lawrence predicted that if Trump were to become president, he would be a disaster.<\/p>\n \u201cIf Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world. Let this be the fire you didn\u2019t have before. If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of colour, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman \u2014 don\u2019t be afraid, be loud!\u201d<\/p>\n In 2020, she admitted she grew up \u201ca little Republican\u201d and \u201cvoted for John McCain.\u201d But she turned away from the party after \u201cDonald Trump got elected.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an impeached president who\u2019s broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy, and it feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s right \u2026 it just changes things for me,\u201d she said during an appearance on the Absolutely Not<\/a> podcast, according to PEOPLE<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement 4<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n Doesn\u2019t want to turn people off<\/p>\n Now, following Trump\u2019s return to the White House, the Oscar-winning actress says that she doesn\u2019t want to be in a position where she\u2019s \u201cturning people off.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think I\u2019m in a complicated recalibration because I\u2019m also an artist,\u201d Lawrence told the Times<\/a>. \u201cWith this temperature and the way things can turn out, I don\u2019t want to start turning people off to films and to art that could change consciousness or change the world because they don\u2019t like my political opinions.\u201d<\/p>\n Lawrence said she wants her movies to be a two-hour escape for audiences.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to protect my craft so that you can still get lost in what I\u2019m doing. And if I can\u2019t say something that\u2019s going to speak to some kind of peace or lowering the temperature or some sort of solution, I don\u2019t want to be a part of the problem,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to make the problem worse\u2026 You watch these actors\u2019 faces who have had incredible careers and made incredible contributions and then one half of the Internet doesn\u2019t want to see their face anymore. I get so upset for those people and it feels so wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement 5<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n When\u00a0The Hunger Games star was asked if she had any regrets about her past behaviour, Lawrence said she regretted \u201ceverything I\u2019ve ever done or said.\u201d But Lawrence said that Trump\u2019s resounding victory in 2024 over the Democratic nominee she supported \u2014 Kamala Harris \u2014 meant she and some of her Hollywood contemporaries were out of step with the electorate.<\/p>\n \u201cThe second term feels different. Because he said what he was going to do. We knew what he did for four years. He was very clear.
