{"id":267394,"date":"2025-11-07T08:36:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/267394\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T08:36:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:36:17","slug":"social-securitys-sending-out-payments-on-wednesday-nov-12-heres-who-gets-a-check","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/267394\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security\u2019s sending out payments on Wednesday, Nov. 12: here\u2019s who gets a check"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">The U.S.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\">Social Security<\/a> Administration (SSA) is to issue benefits checks to millions of Americans next week, in the latest payment run on the agency\u2019s November distribution schedule. <\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s receiving a Social Security payment on Nov. 12?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Payments are to be sent out to certain recipients of retirement benefits, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or survivor benefits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the roughly 70 million people who claim retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits in the U.S., most get their money on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A recipient\u2019s designated Wednesday is determined by the date of birth of the worker whose Social Security taxes have accumulated the benefits entitlement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Next Wednesday\u2019s payments cover birthdays between the 1st and 10th of each month. <\/p>\n<p>At a glance: November\u2019s Wednesday payment schedule:Born 1st-10th of the month: Weds., Nov. 12Born 11th-20th of the month: Weds., Nov. 19Born 21st-31st of the month: Weds., Nov. 26Who isn\u2019t paid on a Wednesday in November? Some long-term Social Security beneficiaries<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">If you began claiming retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits before May 1997, your check typically goes out on the third day of each month, irrespective of your date of birth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These long-term beneficiaries were therefore scheduled to be paid their November money on Monday, November 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program &#8211; a separate SSA scheme for low-income individuals who are over 65 or have a disability &#8211; are normally paid on the 1st of each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, as November began on a Saturday, this month\u2019s SSI payments went out a day early: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\">on Friday, October 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dual beneficiaries (SSI + regular Social Security)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Just over 2.5 million people in the U.S. claim both SSI and one of the SSA\u2019s retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These recipients were due to get the former on October 31, followed by the latter on November 3.<\/p>\n<p>At a glance: non-Wednesday recipients in November:SSI beneficiaries: Fri., Oct. 31Pre-May \u201997 Social Sec. recipients: Mon., Nov. 3Dual beneficiaries: SSI on Oct. 31; Social Sec. on Nov. 3So the government shutdown isn\u2019t impacting Social Security payments?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">No: Despite the federal government shutdown, which is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/11\/05\/nx-s1-5598315\/government-shutdown-longest-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/11\/05\/nx-s1-5598315\/government-shutdown-longest-history\">the longest<\/a> in U.S. history, the SSA <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/author\/9def154796090964ff3e08925487b04115800af3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/author\/9def154796090964ff3e08925487b04115800af3\/\">says<\/a> the distribution of benefits \u201cwill continue with no change in payment dates\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">You can check out the agency\u2019s full benefits-distribution schedule for 2025 in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\">online calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How much are Social Security retirement benefits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Retired workers &#8211; who make up the majority of the U.S.\u2019s Social Security beneficiaries &#8211; get $2,008.31 per month on average, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">the SSA says<\/a>. The maximum monthly retirement benefit currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-01897.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-01897.html\">stands at<\/a> $5,108.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>How much money is paid to disability, survivor and SSI beneficiaries?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Disabled workers receive $1,582.95 a month on average, while recipients of survivor pay get a monthly average of $1,575.30. SSI beneficiaries are issued $717.84 a month on average.<\/p>\n<p>Social Security to raise benefits in 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\">confirmed<\/a> that its recipients will benefit from a 2.8% increase in their monthly payments from January 2026, as part of the agency\u2019s annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For recipients of retirement benefits, this will translate into an average monthly rise of $56, the SSA says.<\/p>\n<p>How does the Social Security Administration send out benefits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Almost all benefits checks are now paid electronically, as the SSA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\">seeks to go fully paperless<\/a>. As of September 30 this year, the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\">says<\/a> recipients are \u201cin most cases\u201d no longer being given the option of being mailed a paper check.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA provides recipients with two ways of receiving electronic payments:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries can get their money by direct deposit, by providing the agency with their bank details.
