Harry Maguire\u2019s revival at Manchester United has been nothing short of miraculous to see, with Ruben Amorim considering the defender key.<\/p>\n

Having once been among the least popular members of the Manchester United<\/a> squad, Harry Maguire<\/a> deserves every bit of the positive reception he now gets at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Erik ten Hag tried hard to sell Maguire<\/a>; however, his love for the club and never-say-die attitude saw the England international survive his United captaincy<\/a> being stripped, booed on tour, and very limited game time, before he bounced back with his performances. <\/p>\n

United snubbed transfer approaches for Maguire in 2025<\/a> to show how valued he was, and despite being 32 years old, there is even consideration of a new contract.<\/p>\n

Now, speaking to the Men in Blazers podcast, Amorim has explained why he likes Maguire so much, both in terms of his on and off-pitch qualities.<\/p>\n

I would like to start with the quality as a player. He\u2019s a very, very good player that, like any other player, needs confidence, and we are trying to give them to give him that to play better. <\/p>\n

\u201cThen he\u2019s really good on the ball. If people remind [remember] of the start of Harry Maguire in Leicester, he\u2019s really, really good on the ball. Then, as you can see, our league in this moment is a lot about set pieces. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe first goal, a lot of times, is set pieces. He\u2019s so strong defending set pieces and is really strong attacking set pieces. So everything together gives us a player with a lot of experience to play the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing, Amorim explained that he is a fan of Maguire\u2019s personality and strength off the pitch, with experiences that can only aid his teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen you have the other part, when any person lives life one moment, that you need to grow up and to be really strong, you can you can help the other guys to understand that things will change, and you will survive, you will not die, you can overcome any situation. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo that is massive, especially for the moment of our club. So again, I just try to use the best footballer that Harry Maguire is.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, with that to bring the mentality that he showed us during these years to overcome very difficult situations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Few players are capable of outlasting the criticisms that Maguire has at United, which is absolutely a testament to his character and something that proves the kind of role model he is. Only David Beckham has gone through what Maguire has<\/a> and come out the other side a club icon.<\/p>\n

However, should this correlate into a new contract? We would suggest it should, assuming he is willing to take a huge wage cut to reflect his squad player playing time.<\/p>\n
