{"id":269656,"date":"2025-11-08T09:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T09:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/269656\/"},"modified":"2025-11-08T09:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T09:26:11","slug":"maine-veterans-receive-gifts-from-local-mma-fighter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/269656\/","title":{"rendered":"Maine veterans receive gifts from local MMA fighter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">BREWER, Maine (WABI) &#8211; Maine Veterans Project and New England Fights team up for veterans. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Local MMA fighter Ed Davis has made it his mission to bring veterans to his fights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After weigh-ins, he met with close to 20 veterans at Mason\u2019s in Brewer Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He gave each of them one of his fight shirts and tickets for Saturday\u2019s fights at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve grown a really good bond with everybody at MVP, and it\u2019s been five fights now that I\u2019ve been getting all the veterans to come out for, lunch and go out to the fights, and I\u2019ve built very good bonds with them as well, so like, for me, the fight in the cage is nothing compared to what they have done for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Davis says the goal is to raise awareness of suicide prevention given that statistically, 22 veterans die every 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He hopes the local vets all have a great night together Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WABI.
