{"id":269825,"date":"2025-11-08T11:12:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T11:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/269825\/"},"modified":"2025-11-08T11:12:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T11:12:13","slug":"alex-de-minaur-confirms-top-players-in-discussions-with-grand-slams-in-attempt-to-force-change-in-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/269825\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex de Minaur confirms top players in discussions with Grand Slams in attempt to force change in tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>The Grand Slams have been subject to criticism this year, as players demand they start sharing revenues properly.<\/p>\n<p>Wimbledon, Roland Garros, the Australian Open, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> generate more revenue than any other tennis tournament, but that isn\u2019t necessarily reflected in the prize money the players receive.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/coco-gauff-explains-her-reasons-why-she-signed-second-letter-demanding-change-at-every-grand-slam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">top players on both tours sent a letter to the Grand Slams demanding change<\/a>, to help maintain the tennis \u2018ecosystem\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2237036079-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Carlos Alcaraz speaks to the media during a press conference at the 2025 Japan Open\" class=\"wp-image-132520\" \/>Photo by Koji Watanabe\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been little to no news since, leading many to question if the requests had fallen on deaf ears.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for clarification, journalists asked about the ongoing \u2018dispute\u2019 during a pre-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp-finals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP Finals<\/a> press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Alex de Minaur confirms the Grand Slams are talking to players about the issues<\/p>\n<p>Asked this question in their \u2018Jimmy Connors Group\u2019 press conference, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alex-de-minaur\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex de Minaur<\/a> and Carlos Alcaraz provided the following responses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that the top players in the ATP and WTA are in dispute with the Grand Slams. I just wanted to know your feelings about how frustrated you are about the lack of communication since September on this issue and what steps the players might take with the Australian Open coming up in January, in order to force the issue?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Journalist \u2013 ATP Finals press conference<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I can talk on behalf of the players,\u201d said De Minaur.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in communication with the Slams, and we are trying to work out solutions, and ultimately, what we all want is the sport as a whole to keep on growing and keep on bringing more eyeballs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2244992904-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Alex de Minaur attends the ATP Finals blue carpet event in 2025\" class=\"wp-image-142041\" \/>Photo by MARCO BERTORELLO\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully, we are all in this together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>World number two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alcaraz<\/a> was in complete agreement with the Aussie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he said everything, so there is no need to say my point of view,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we are probably all in the same line and in the same way, so everything that Alex [De Minaur] said is great on behalf of everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked a similar question during the \u2018Bjorn Borg Group\u2019 press conference, American star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/ben-shelton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Shelton<\/a> weighed in with his thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is something that I have been following.
