{"id":271258,"date":"2025-11-09T03:13:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T03:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/271258\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T03:13:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T03:13:11","slug":"trailer-park-boys-star-mike-smith-charged-with-sexual-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/271258\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Trailer Park Boys&#8217; Star Mike Smith Charged With Sexual Assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMike Smith, who starred as Bubbles on the cult classic comedy series \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/trailer-park-boys\/\" id=\"auto-tag_trailer-park-boys\" data-tag=\"trailer-park-boys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trailer Park Boys<\/a>,\u201d has been charged with sexual assault, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/nova-scotia\/trailer-park-boys-star-sexual-assault-charge-bubbles-9.6972349\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Canadian Broadcasting Corporation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to documents filed in Nova Scotia provincial court obtained by the outlet, Smith was charged on Oct. 2 in connection with an alleged assault that took place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on Dec. 30, 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSmith\u2019s rep and lawyer did not immediately respond to Variety\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tProduction banner Trailer Park Boys Inc. told CBC in a statement that it was \u201caware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith,\u201d and confirmed he has \u201cstepped away\u201d from his post as the company\u2019s managing director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved,\u201d read the statement. \u201cOut of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSmith made up one-third of the leading trio behind \u201cTrailer Park Boys,\u201d alongside John Paul Tremblay and Robb Wells. The mockumentary comedy first debuted in 2001 on the Canadian TV network Showcase, and was picked up by Netflix in 2014. \u201cTrailer Park Boys\u201d has run for 116 episodes and spawned a number of films and spin-off series. The show follows three trouble-making trailer park residents, Julian (Tremblay), Bubbles (Smith) and Ricky (Wells), who are inexplicably the subject of a documentary about their lives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTrailer Park Boys\u201d Season 13 recently wrapped production in August.
