Kerry Schmidt says drivers both with and without winter tires should be cautious as snow continues to fall throughout Ontario. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto is seeing its first snowfall of the season today as Environment Canada warns of \u201cdifficult winter driving conditions\u201d and possible transportation delays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The national weather agency issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/en\/location\/index.html?coords=43.655,-79.383\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/en\/location\/index.html?coords=43.655,-79.383\">special weather statement<\/a> at 5:20 a.m., now forecasting between five and 10 centimetres of snow for the city through Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cMotorists should expect difficult winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly,\u201d Environment Canada said. \u201cPoor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Officials said there remains uncertainty around the system\u2019s track and total accumulation, though the highest amounts are expected southeast of a line from Stratford to Orillia.<\/p>\n<p>City crews on standby<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">City officials said salt brine has already been applied to major routes and bridges to prevent ice buildup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cToronto\u2019s first snowfall of the season could come as early as Sunday morning,\u201d the city said in a statement. \u201cPlease be careful on roads and sidewalks as they could be slippery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Salters have been positioned across the city to respond quickly once the snow begins to stick, with residents urged to give themselves extra time to travel and consider installing winter tires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"OPP Sgt.
