{"id":272508,"date":"2025-11-09T17:40:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/272508\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T17:40:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T17:40:07","slug":"report-poison-pill-put-in-parsons-deal-to-block-future-eagles-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/272508\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: &#8216;Poison pill&#8217; put in Parsons deal to block future Eagles move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The trade that sent Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers contains a &#8220;poison pill&#8221; condition that is intended to stop the star pass-rusher from ending up with the Philadelphia Eagles in the coming years, sources told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/46903767\/micah-parsons-trade-poison-pill-blocking-future-deal-eagles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ESPN&#8217;s Adam Schefter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If the Packers trade Parsons to an NFC East team, they would have to send the Cowboys their 2028 first-round draft pick, Schefter reports. The same clause applies if Dallas trades defensive lineman Kenny Clark &#8211; who went the other way in the Parsons deal &#8211; to an NFC North club.<\/p>\n<p>The poison pill runs until the end of the 2026 season, according to Schefter.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia sniffed around on the star pass-rusher before his move to Green Bay, even reportedly calling divisional rival Dallas about a potential trade, but was rejected.<\/p>\n<p>The poison pill also restricts the Cowboys and Packers from trading their respective 2028 first-round picks until the clauses expire. <\/p>\n<p>A four-time Pro Bowler, Parsons has 6.5 sacks through eight games for the Packers.
