In February, the BBC removed a documentary about Gaza from its streaming service after it emerged that the child narrator was the son of an official in the Hamas-led government.

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the opposition Conservative Party, said that the BBC was full of “institutional bias,” and “the new leadership must now deliver genuine reform of the culture of the BBC, top to bottom.”

Lisa Nandy, the minister in charge of media in Britain’s centre-left Labour government, thanked Davie for his work and said that the government would help the BBC secure “its role at the heart of national life for decades to come.”

“Now more than ever, the need for trusted news and high quality programming is essential to our democratic and cultural life, and our place in the world,” Nandy said.

Listen to this article Estimated 4 minutes The audio version of this article is generated by text-to-speech, a…

[2
43,44,41,39,42,40
0":"post-273260","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-headlines","8":"tag-headlines","9":"tag-news","10":"tag-top-news","11":"tag-top-stories","12":"tag-topnews","13":"tag-topstories
["GET
