However, Abrahams’ timing was on point, eventually closing the distance, securing multiple takedowns, and going to work with her jiu-jitsu.

Tara Abrahams tries to lock in one of her many armbars in her Barebones Women’s Flyweight Title Fight this past weekend. Picture: Buntu Gotywa, MzansiMMA
Majiet’s Resilience and MADFit’s Historic Victory

She constantly asked questions with her grappling, testing Majiet’s resolve and attempting multiple armbars.

Credit must go to Majiet for her composure, even when it looked at times as though her limbs were contorted — often leading those in attendance to lower their gaze for fear of seeing Majiet injure herself. The Fighterz Inc. athlete showed warrior spirit, listened well to her coach, the highly respected Fidaah Edries, and consistently found ways to transition out of danger.

Eventually, in the fourth round, Abrahams locked in yet another tight armbar, forcing Team Fighterz Inc. to submit, awarding MADFit the submission win and making history in the process, an achievement celebrated by the gym’s fans, who made their presence felt.

Celebrating Abrahams’ Victory and MADFit’s Dominance at the Event

The beauty of the moment wasn’t just Abrahams’ win being celebrated, but the manner in which the crowd and everyone in attendance applauded both women for stepping into the cage after months of hard work and mental boundaries being pushed to showcase their skills, heart, and athleticism inside the cage.

Abrahams’ MADFit brothers — Dean van Wyk, Josh Bester, and Colby Robert Baxter — all flew the team’s flag high on the night.

In the Featherweight division, Van Wyk secured a TKO finish in round two against Ahmad Keraan of Legion MMA to claim the Men’s Featherweight Title

Bester was crowned Men’s Lightweight Interim Champion after beating Byron Sarjoo of Performance Institute (and the BMC Welterweight Champion) via decision.

Baxter put on a great wrestling clinic to secure a unanimous decision win over Andrew Hunter of Titans MMA in their Men’s Featherweight Contender Fight.

Shortly after the Lightweight Interim fight, tempers flared inside the cage when former UFC and PFL MMA star Don Madge and current EFC Middleweight Champion Luke Michael clashed inside the Barebones cage.

It was the boiling point triggered by weeks of online trash talk and chirps in the lead-up to the event.

Madge and Michael came face to face to confront each other before Madge pushed Michael, which set off a moment of chaos. Michael — who had been warned earlier in the day to remain calm cage-side — was then escorted out before returning to continue coaching his last fighter, Aku Okafor, who beat Legion MMA’s Ebrahim Oosthuizen in the Men’s Heavyweight co-main event via TKO in the second round.

Another special mention goes to Frank Ngoka of TroubleMakers Gym, who continued his dominance in the cage with a vicious first-round TKO over Performance Institute’s Ashwad Reid in their Men’s Welterweight bout. This was Ngoka’s first Men’s fight after he relinquished his Junior Welterweight title; the MMA community would be wise to keep an eye on this young man, coached and mentored by the highly talented South African star Faeez Jacobs.

Results:

Fight 18- Womens Flyweight Title – 52.3kg – 56.7kg Tara Abrahams (Madfit) beat Aayesha Majiet (Fighterz Inc) via armbar in the fourth round.

Fight 17 – Mens Heavyweight Title – 93.1kg – 120.2kg Emmanuel Aku Okafar (Performance Institute) beat Ebrahim Oosthuizen (Legion) via TKO in round 2.

Fight 16 – Mens Featherweight Title – 61.3kg – 65.8kg Dean Van Wyk (Madfit) beat Ahmad Keraan (Legion) via TKO in round 2.

Fight 15 – Mens Lightweight Interim Title – 65.9kg – 70.3kg Josh Bester (Madfit) beat Byron Sarjoo (Performance Institute) via decision.

Fight 14 – Mens Featherweight Contender – 61.3kg – 65.8kg Colby Robert Baxter (Madfit) beat Andrew Hunter (Titans MMA) via unanimous decision.

Fight 13 – Mens Heavyweight – 93.1kg – 120.2kg Kyle Van Der Kolff (Trident) beat Lukeny Do’s Anjos (Iron Tiger) via TKO in the first round.

Fight 12 – Mens Welterweight – 71.3kg – 77.1kg Brynton Van Gein (Performance Institute) beat Pietie Lubbe (Titans) via arm triangle in round 2.

Fight 11 – Mens Welterweight – 71.3kg – 77.1kg Frank Ngoka (Troublemaker MMA) beat Ashwad Reid (Performance Institute) via TKO in round 1.

Fight 10 – Mens Middleweight – 77.2kg – 83.4kg Franco Rheeder (PFA) Luqmaan Sadien (Legion MMA) via triangle choke in round 1 18:20 – 18:25 18:05 – 18:20

Fight 9 – Mens Bantamweight – 56.8kg – 61.2kg Nilesh Jessa (Wrestling for MMA) beat Furqaan Salie (Fighterz Inc) via TKO in round 1.

Fight 8 – Mens Flyweight – 52.3kg – 56.7kg Junaid Brown (Trident) beat Amanu Abdallah (Fighterz Inc) via unanimous decision.

Fight 7 – Mens Strawweight – 48.8kg – 52.2kg Dwaine Titus (Reps MMA) beat Buhle Miso (Go For Broke) via rear naked choke in round 3.

Early Prelims – Youth Card

Fight 6 – Women’s Youth C under 59kg Hannah Mohamed (Go For Broke) beat Aeryn Van Graan (Mecs Martial Arts) via armbar.

Fight 5 – Youth A Featherweight – under 65.3kg Ashiq Rhode (House Of Warriors) beat

Luka Kenny (Mecs Martial Arts) via triangle.

Fight 4 – Youth B – under 57kg Hamza Mouneimne (PFA) beat Aqib Rhode (House Of Warriors) via split decision.

Fight 3 – Youth C under 52kg Noah De Wet (Mecs Martial Arts) beat Zita Kamutiba (Elite MMA) via armbar.

Fight 2 – Youth C under 63kg Jacob Gumedi (Mecs Martial Arts) beat Iderees Galsoolker (Legion MMA) via armbar submission.

Fight 1 – Youth C under 52kg Shona Cramer (Elite MMA) beat Haseen Gool (Legion MMA).

IOL Sport

The Barebones MMA Championship continues to grow from strength to strength following another successful show in Milnerton this…

[444
49,48,641,638,82
0":"post-273928","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mma","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-fighting","11":"tag-mma","12":"tag-sports
["GET
