Leading into the West Final, veteran quarterback Trevor Harris had no time to talk about Nathan Rourke<\/a>. However, after Saskatchewan beat B.C. to advance to the Green and White\u2019s first Grey Cup since 2013, the 39-year-old shared praise for the 2025 CFL all-star QB, albeit with an important caveat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know my comments (on Friday) were a little bit more brash than what they normally are, but I saw Nathan on that sneak, he said, \u2018It\u2019s our time. It\u2019s our time.\u2019 I think it\u2019s our time,\u201d Harris said postgame after a 24-21 win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old Rourke was seen and heard on TSN\u2019s broadcast yelling to the sold-out Mosaic Stadium crowd, \u2018It\u2019s our time. It\u2019s our time.\u2019 That came after he scored a go-ahead touchdown, which gave B.C. a 21-14 lead with less than seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. Late in the final frame, B.C. had two chances to pick up first downs on offence and drain the clock, but the Roughriders forced two critical two-and-outs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say to (head coach) Buck (Pierce) and that team, man, unbelievable,\u201d Saskatchewan head coach Corey Mace<\/a> said. \u201cUnbelievable team, unbelievable fight. They\u2019re coached well, great players. Nathan Rourke is a really good football player, did some crazy stuff. Tip of the cap to those guys, but extremely happy with how the defence stood on their head the last couple of drives.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Canadian QB completed 20-of-30 passes for 290 yards with one touchdown and one interception \u2014 his receivers had some dropped passes \u2014 along with two touchdowns on the ground. Although Rourke was not able to close the game out, he moved in the pocket and eluded pass rushers with ease and impressed his counterpart on the other team.<\/p>\n

\u201cNathan Rourke\u2019s an outstanding player. He might win the MVP of the league and very deservingly so. He made some big plays, some of the stuff where he\u2019s stepping up the pocket, he\u2019s coddled up, and he flips it with his hand \u2014 it was pretty awesome,\u201d Harris said. \u201cPretty fun duel, but we\u2019ll take it because we ended up getting the last laugh. He\u2019s a great player, great future. He\u2019s gonna be the face of the league for a while, but not yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Down 21-17 with one minute and 10 seconds on the clock, Harris led a seven-play, 76-yard game-winning drive. He completed six-of-seven passes, including a well-placed football to Dohnte Meyers for 21 yards, which set up a three-yard touchdown strike to Tommy Nield. The catch was ruled as such by on-field officials and confirmed by the league\u2019s replay centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like we\u2019ve gotten the short end of the stick in terms of I don\u2019t know if people were rooting for us or they wanted the other team (to win),\u201d Harris said. \u201cI think we found a way to take it personal. This group is capable of more. Our best football game we haven\u2019t played yet and so hopefully that can be in Winnipeg against Montreal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saskatchewan (13-6) and the Alouettes (12-8) meet in the 112th Grey Cup at Princess Auto Stadium on Sunday, November 16, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. The weather forecast in the Manitoba capital calls for a high of two degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN, CTV, and RDS in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally.<\/p>\n
