During Sunday\u2019s NASCAR Mexico championship race, a safety car somehow managed to ram into a competitor\u2019s already crashed car.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-2_37\">The bizarre incident occurred during the season finale at the Aut\u00f3dromo Miguel E. Abed. During the race, Santiago Tovar, the driver of the No. 22 Quaker State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorbiscuit.com\/tag\/ford\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ford<\/a>, lost control and got stuck in a tire barrier.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-3_39\">While waiting for help to extricate his race car from the tires, a safety car sped toward the scene, supposedly to make sure he was okay. And it didn\u2019t stop until it barreled head-on, right into Tovar\u2019s race car.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-4_36\">After ramming Tovar\u2019s right front fender, the safety car driver was able to back his vehicle out of the secondary crash he had caused. Luckily, neither he nor Santiago Tovar was injured in the strange smash-up.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-5_32\">As for the race itself, Rub\u00e9n Rovelo was the winner of the Puebla 110. Alex de Alba, who finished fourth in the event, was also crowned the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorbiscuit.com\/tag\/nascar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NASCAR<\/a> Mexico Series Champion.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-6_45\">While Rovelo and de Alba received many congratulations following the NASCAR Mexico season finale, it was the unusual scene involving the safety car that dominated social media discussion. The video of the crash has now been viewed hundreds of thousands of times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@otonielmontoya95\/video\/7570861804566760724\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">on TikTok<\/a> alone.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-7_20\">\u201cHere comes the UNSAFETY CAR,\u201d one fan joked alongside the video of the safety car slamming into Tovar\u2019s disabled vehicle.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-8_20\">\u201cI had no idea Lance Stroll had another part-time job!\u201d another fan joked, referring to the oft-beleaguered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorbiscuit.com\/tag\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula One<\/a> driver.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-9_11\">\u201cDid they need another doctor for the doctor?\u201d another viewer asked.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-10_17\">\u201cI\u2019m not clear on whether he went to help or to finish the job,\u201d someone else wondered.<\/p>\n<p id=\"par-11_5\">\u201cYou had one job\u2026\u201d co<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<script async src=\"\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"James Gilbert\/Getty Images The safety car driver was just finishing the job.
