CALGARY \u2014 Former CFL star and current Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton has undergone surgery for testicular cancer and says he expects to return to the football field this season.<\/p>\n
Singleton played three seasons for the Calgary Stampeders. He won a Grey Cup in 2018 and earned the CFL’s most outstanding defensive player award in 2017 before heading to the NFL.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old said in a social media post that he had surgery Friday after playing the previous night in Denver’s 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n
Singleton wrote that an elevated hormone showing up in his random drug test as part NFL’s drug testing prompted him to consult a urologist, who confirmed signs of testicular cancer.<\/p>\n
The Californian believes the cancer was detected and treated early enough that he will play again this season.<\/p>\n
Singleton spent his first three NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and is in his third with the Broncos.<\/p>\n
