The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> enter the offseason in utter heartbreak after losing the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. The Blue Jays needed just one more win to claim the title, but a controversial lodged ball call may have cost them their chance in Game 6.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact this is ruled a \u2018lodged ball\u2019 but then the CF has no problem picking it up and throwing it in is dumb. He didn\u2019t even make an effort to grab it right away. Blue Jays might have gotten screwed,\u201d SI\u2019s JD Andress posted.<\/p>\n

Now, as the offseason begins, several players are hitting free agency \u2014 including Bo Bichette. Competing for Bichette\u2019s services will be a challenge for any team, as he\u2019s expected to command a sizable contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe key question facing Bichette’s free agency is how teams will view him positionally. If a club is willing to stomach his shortstop defense, then the comparison to Willy Adames’ agreement with the Giants (seven years, $182 million) is a good reference point. I’m going to assume that will be the case, at least in the short term. I’ll add in some extra coin because of Bichette’s age advantage and inflation. Seven years, $189 million ($27 million AAV),\u201d CBS Sports\u2019 RJ Anderson wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, Bichette isn\u2019t being viewed strictly as a shortstop this offseason.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan confirm Bo Bichette has received interest from multiple teams who view him as a second baseman or third baseman, due to the presence of an established shortstop on those rosters. Further evidence that the World Series augmented his value in the marketplace,\u201d Morosi posted.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bichette\u2019s bat during the World Series was impossible to ignore. He proved he can hit at an elite level, though his defense at shortstop remains a concern. Still, his postseason performance significantly boosted his market value.<\/p>\n

With Bichette being considered for multiple positions, more teams are expected to enter the mix \u2014 possibly even the New York Mets<\/a> or the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>. This new development changes everything.<\/p>\n
