Developed by Studio WE (Yutao Chen and Yiwen Gu), the project draws from the island\u2019s shipbuilding tradition to explore mobility as a mode of cultural and spatial connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The structure comprises three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/modular-design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">modular<\/a> units that can be reconfigured to serve multiple functions, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/library-architecture-and-design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">library<\/a>, an open-air stage, or a seaside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/temporary-pavilions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pavilion<\/a>. Each module is constructed using locally sourced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/wood-and-timber-architecture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">timber<\/a> and prefabricated joinery, balancing structural stability with ease of assembly, disassembly, and transport. The timber\u2019s natural tone and texture integrate the structure into the coastal landscape, allowing it to blend with its surroundings while accommodating seasonal and community needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Beyond its function as a library, the project by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/yutaoch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Studio WE<\/a> serves as a flexible cultural platform, hosting small-scale performances, reading sessions, and educational programs.
