LUMUT (Nov 11): The federal government has allocated RM1.97 billion for the implementation of Phase 2 pension adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), effective Jan 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
Public Service Department director general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the move demonstrates the government\u2019s commitment to recognising retirees\u2019 contributions, while providing financial relief to nearly one million pension recipients nationwide.<\/p>\n
He added that the initiative forms part of the government\u2019s ongoing efforts to safeguard pensioners\u2019 welfare, in line with the principle of well-being underpinning the values of Malaysia Madani.<\/p>\n
\u201cPensioners\u00a0are not left out when salary adjustments are made for serving civil servants. They will also receive the same adjustment based on their final pension amount.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis clearly demonstrates the government\u2019s commitment to civil servants, including pensioners, and recognises their dedicated contributions throughout their service,\u201d he told reporters after visiting pensioners at Taman Desa Bayu, Seri Manjung, near here on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
In August 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that officers from the Implementing,\u00a0Management and Professional groups who opt for the SSPA scheme will receive a phased salary adjustment of 15%, with 8% for Phase 1 in December 2024 and 7% for Phase 2 in January 2026.<\/p>\n
Wan Ahmad Dahlan also said the Public Service Department (PSD) continues to strengthen collaboration with state governments through the State Secretary\u2019s Office and the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP), to ensure pensioners\u2019 welfare is managed holistically and sustainably.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough this partnership, services such as the MyPesara Counter, introduced in 2019 by the State Secretary\u2019s Office, remain an important platform to assist retirees with pension matters,\u00a0cards, and information updates.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese initiatives complement programmes jointly run by KWAP, including the Jelajah\u00a0MyPesara, which focuses on health, financial management, and skills development to enhance their independence during retirement,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
