Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident in May.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Super Bowl winner was extradited to the United States last week<\/a> after being arrested in Dubai and his plea was filed by his attorney Mark Eiglarsh in Miami on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Following an investigation into the incident in Miami on 17 May, police issued an arrest warrant in June which alleged Brown took a gun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man he had brawled with earlier on.<\/p>\n

No arrests were made at the time and no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Brown had been detained by police at the time of the incident before being released.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old’s attorney Eiglarsh has requested a trial by jury. If Brown goes to trial and is convicted, he could serve as many as 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n

A statement issued by Eiglarsh has also been posted on Brown’s X account,, external<\/a> which reads: “The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defence against the alleged victim’s violent behaviour.<\/p>\n

“Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who previously committed criminal acts against him.”<\/p>\n
