British boxing icon Kell Brook faced numerous battles in the ring<\/a> – but his toughest happened away from the gym.<\/p>\n

Brook, 39, recently claimed that girlfriend Ebanie Bridges, who he welcomed a son with earlier this year<\/a>, \u201csaved his life\u201d as he battled his demons to \u201cget out of the darkness\u201d.<\/p>\n

And speaking to Boxing King Media<\/a>, the Blonde Bomber, 39,<\/a> has now responded to Brook\u2019s comments: \u201cI thought publicly it was nice. I don\u2019t do it for credit, I never did it for credit – I did it because I loved him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI helped him because I loved him and because I\u2019ve seen the person that he could be and that he is underneath.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw the person, the man he is underneath. I could see that he was possessed by this devil – addiction and depression. I could see what was underneath and I wanted to bring that out.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo hear that, it was nice for Kell. And it was also because, Kell, he\u2019s a very, very private person. So for him to talk about me in that (way)\u2026it\u2019s very private and deep for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo for him to come out about that was really lovely.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Blonde Bomber continued: \u201cI felt it was nice, like \u2018thanks babe\u2019. It\u2019s nice – that\u2019s it really, I was just like \u2018yeah it was nice\u2019, you know? It wasn\u2019t like it was \u2018oh finally\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause again, it\u2019s between us, I know his family, everyone that knows us, knows the story\u2026\u201cIt was nice to get \u2018credit\u2019 – but he did all of the work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on his current health, Brook said: “I’ve got a beautiful son, he’s my pride and joy – I’m just happy because, I’m in control of my life!”<\/p>\n

And when asked about Ebanie, he said: “She’s a fantastic mum, she’s a ferocious fighter…she’s so clever…she’s played a massive part [in Brook being clean], you know, she saved my life!<\/p>\n

“She put me in the right path and in the right environment; she spent a lot of time talking to me and got very knowledgeable about addiction and mental health.<\/p>\n

“In those darkest times when I felt so alone she was the bright light, she got me out of that darkness.”<\/p>\n

Ebanie, herself, also opened up on her “two full time jobs” of being a professional boxer and a mum – joking it takes a village to raise a kid.<\/p>\n

The Blonde Bomber is eyeing a return to the ring, but she explained how she’s juggling training while spending raise baby Ezerra Ray.<\/p>\n
