{"id":279576,"date":"2025-11-13T03:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T03:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/279576\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T03:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T03:44:07","slug":"indycar-team-teases-kyle-larson-move-after-nascar-title-win-motorsport-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/279576\/","title":{"rendered":"IndyCar team teases Kyle Larson move after NASCAR title win &#8211; Motorsport &#8211; Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After crashing out of both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in what was his second attempt to pull \u201cDouble Duty\u201d in 2025, Kyle Larson admitted he may have been asking too much of himself in hindsight.<\/p>\n<p>However, after bouncing back from a subsequent slump in the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/latest\/nascar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NASCAR Cup Series<\/a> to win the championship, thanks in no small part to a late caution that forced the Championship Race into overtime and allowed him to pass leader Denny Hamlin on pit road, it seems <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/latest\/kyle-larson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Larson<\/a> may be about to announce a return to IndyCar.<\/p>\n<p>In a teasing social media post, Arrow McLaren simply wrote \u201cA new assignment\u201d along with the \u201csoon\u201d emoji, accompanied by an image showing a \u201cProject 31\u201d file folder reading, \u201cMission: Indianapolis 500\u201d and \u201cSecurity Level: 4.\u201d Sticking out of the folder were three pieces of paper, with the top showing an image of Larson, along with, \u201cAgent: Kyle Larson, No. 17.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Should the post indicate Larson\u2019s intention to return to the 500, it wouldn\u2019t come as a major surprise, given that he has previously admitted that he would be open to running the historic event again in the future, although there had been no previous indication that he might do so again so soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as like \u2018The Double\u2019 would go, I don\u2019t think I would probably do that again,\u201d he told <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wishtv.com\/sports\/indy-500\/kyle-larson-double-duty-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">WISH-TV<\/a> in June. \u201cJust logistically, it\u2019s too tough. There\u2019s too much money that goes into making that possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=9761f86a-69c1-4771-b7da-6a7feddacc61&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sign up to our NASCAR newsletter here.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t even think I would be able to finish the race to be able to get to Charlotte in time. I crashed out around halfway, and by the time I got to Charlotte, it was 10 minutes to driver intros. It\u2019s just not as feasible, and I don\u2019t know how they did it back in the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would still love to run the Indy 500 again. Just as long as I\u2019m a full-time NASCAR guy, I just don\u2019t think that is going to be possible. Maybe someday, when I\u2019m done racing NASCAR full-time, I can commit more and be better prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To date, only Tony Stewart has completed both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, accomplishing this remarkable feat in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>DON&#8217;T MISS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Should Larson be planning to attempt \u201cDouble Duty\u201d for a third consecutive year, he\u2019ll be hoping to avoid the subsequent <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/sport\/motorsport\/185882\/kyle-larson-addresses-mid-season-slump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">drop in form he endured in 2025<\/a> after <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/sport\/motorsport\/172824\/kyle-larson-crash-indy-500-nascar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">crashing on the 92nd lap in Indy<\/a> before being <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/sport\/motorsport\/172854\/nascar-crash-charlotte-larson-blaney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">caught in a mass wreck on lap 246 in Charlotte<\/a>. All three of his wins that season came prior to Indy and Charlotte, after which he cracked the top five just three times in 18 races before returning to form late in the Playoffs.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Speaking to Corey LaJoie in October on his \u2018<a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WtMnpqY90MU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Stacking Pennies<\/a>\u2019 podcast, Larson admitted that \u201clooking at the results since [Indy and Charlotte], it&#8217;d be hard to argue that it didn&#8217;t (knock his confidence), even though I wouldn&#8217;t necessarily say I felt any lack of confidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don&#8217;t know. But I don&#8217;t know if it was circumstantial, but I mean, my NASCAR stuff took a dip, my sprint car racing took a dip.
