Another key DC Universe<\/a> player is set to return in Man of Tomorrow, as the continuation of 2025’s Superman<\/a> is in the works. Following the big Superman success at DC Studios<\/a>, the Man of Steel is just getting started in James Gunn’s superhero franchise, as a follow-up installment will continue David Corenswet’s take on the DC icon.<\/p>\n

While Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult have been confirmed to return for Man of Tomorrow, another Superman cast member has revealed their return for the upcoming continuation. Frank Grillo<\/a>, who plays Rick Flag Sr. in the DCU, revealed on his Instagram story that he is indeed coming back for the 2027 installment. Check out his response below:<\/p>\n

Citing an article from The Direct about the Superman follow-up confirming numerous Peacemaker actors for the film, Grillo commented, “well i hope @jamesgunn doesn’t get in trouble by…oh wait he’s the boss.” The former Marvel Cinematic Universe actor debuted as Rick in the animated Creature Commandos series before making the jump to the big screen in Superman, while having a central role in Peacemaker season 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gunn has previously confirmed that Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is also confirmed to return in Man of Tomorrow. The DC Studios co-CEO responded to a fan on Threads in early September 2025 that Lois will have an “important role.”<\/p>\n

The Man of Tomorrow movie<\/a>, which is eying to start principal photography in 2026, will feature Superman and Lex having to join forces against a new antagonist, with many theorizing it will be Brainiac. According to Gunn, “It\u2019s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat.”<\/p>\n

Another Superman project is also in the works, as the Jimmy Olsen spinoff show<\/a> recently tapped its showrunners, set to focus on Skyler Gisondo’s DCU player. If picked up to series, the offshoot would focus on Jimmy and other Daily Planet characters as they “tackle cases involving super-powered villains.”<\/p>\n

The next theatrical installment in the DCU franchise will be Milly Alcock’s Supergirl on June 26, 2026, followed by the R-rated Clayface film on September 11. The Lanterns TV show<\/a> is debuting in early 2026 on HBO, while DC Studios has scheduled Man of Tomorrow for July 9, 2027.<\/p>\n
