A higher chance of interest rate cutspublished at 08:27 GMT<\/p>\n<p>08:27 GMT<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-8kvzjk-Contributor etflsgg2\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/7bbc638d-c11c-479b-90b5-cdbf75037c87.jpg.webp.webp\" width=\"64\" height=\"64\" class=\"ssrcss-11yxrdo-Image edrdn950\"\/>Faisal Islam<br \/>Economics editor<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The growth of the UK economy has slowed more than expected in the third quarter between July and September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In the month of September the economy actually shrank a little, by 0.1%, with the ONS pointing to the impact of the 28% fall in the manufacturing of cars, following the cyber incident that paused production at Jaguar Land Rover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But there are also underlying signs of a weakening economy, no longer outperforming the rest of the G7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The monthly figure for August was also downgraded to zero growth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The service sector did continue to grow, albeit mainly in business-facing services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The feel-good factor is proving elusive, even ahead of what will be a tough Budget. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The silver lining on these cloudy figures is that they increase the likelihood of further, faster interest rate cuts from the Bank of England, as soon as next month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s the silver lining?
