Coronation Street\u2019s David Platt unexpectedly lets slip to his loved ones about his baby\u2019s poor health<\/a> next week, before his wife Shona publicly storms out on him. In front of the family, David suddenly blurts out that the little girl Shona is carrying is desperately unwell and may not survive.<\/p>\n

This week, David and Shona were told that their unborn child has a mass on her neck<\/a>, and the consultant gave them the option of having a termination.<\/p>\n

Should they decide to continue with the pregnancy, Shona will need to have an EXIT procedure<\/a> to save her baby, a complex surgery that can carry huge risks. <\/p>\n

While Shona is adamant that she is going to undergo the surgery, David is more cautious and fears for his wife\u2019s health \u2013 and the couple are at odds<\/a> over this massive decision.<\/p>\n

Nick, Toyah and Bethany are understandably shaken by the revelation next week, and the worried trio begin to bombard the couple with questions.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an incredibly overwhelming situation and it soon all becomes too much for poor Shona, who rushes out of the Bistro to be on her own.<\/p>\n

“Shona just wants to block it all out,” says our Corrie insider. “She doesn\u2019t want to face the fact that their child is so poorly.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s clear to see why David would want to tell his family about what he\u2019s going through, but he should\u2019ve really consulted Shona about it rather than dropping a bombshell like that. They\u2019re in this together and need to communicate, for both of their sakes.”<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, David mentions to Shona that it might be time for them to explain the complication with the pregnancy to their inner circle. Shona is reluctant in her response, signalling that she\u2019s just not ready to broach the topic yet.<\/p>\n

“David does try to start a conversation about telling people,” reveals our source. “That\u2019s what makes the situation at the Bistro even more sore for Shona.<\/p>\n
