{"id":281501,"date":"2025-11-14T00:55:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/281501\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T00:55:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T00:55:09","slug":"winning-is-winning-but-managing-your-emotions-is-what-matters-most-carlos-alcaraz-on-the-process-to-reach-no-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/281501\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cWinning is winning, but managing your emotions is what matters most\u201d, Carlos Alcaraz on the process to reach No. 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennismajors.com\/matches\/atp\/nitto-atp-finals\/carlos-alcaraz-vs-lorenzo-musetti-6\" data-type=\"match\" data-id=\"839654\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">securing his place in the ATP Finals semifinals and clinching the world No. 1 ranking<\/a>, Carlos Alcaraz reflected on how he has mastered the art of controlling his form and emotions \u2013\u00a0a feat he has taken four years to achieve, at 22, which is a pretty good record in modern tennis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I\u2019ve been playing great tennis,\u201d Alcaraz said after defeating Musetti (6-4, 6-1) with calm confidence. \u201cI\u2019m just really happy that I came in Turin with confidence, knowing that I\u2019m playing great tennis,\u201d despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennismajors.com\/matches\/atp\/rolex-paris-masters\/carlos-alcaraz-vs-cameron-norrie-4\" data-type=\"match\" data-id=\"838779\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a loss in his first match at the Rolex Paris Masters<\/a>, which he called \u201cParis Bercy,\u201d referencing the former tournament name despite the move to Paris La D\u00e9fense Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his season, Alcaraz described 2025 as his best indoor campaign so far, after a brief hesitation when he forgot about his first trophy in Rotterdam in February.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz did it \u201chis way\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite limited experience on that surface, he feels in control. \u201cI don\u2019t play too many indoor tournaments per year, which means I don\u2019t get so much experience,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut I feel great after every match, and I hope to keep feeling even better in the semifinals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz highlighted once again what he said upon arriving in Turin: he had to manage time off in his schedule to stay fresh throughout the eleven-month season. And he did ot. \u201cIt\u2019s always about getting to know yourself, what you need on and off the court,\u201d he added, emphasizing the self-awareness that has become central to his approach. This theme was a key part of his documentary A Mi Manera (My Way), released this spring.<\/p>\n<p>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickmouratoglou.com\/en\/champion-mindset-pre-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"mx-auto\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Banner-Social-Media-Facebook-scaled.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"aspect-3-1 mx-auto max-w-full overflow-hidden object-cover md:max-w-xl\"\/><br \/>\n  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz\u2019s journey this year has been about more than just titles and rankings; it\u2019s about making a conscious effort to control his destiny. \u201cI think I\u2019ve done it pretty well,\u201d he said, referencing his balance of physical health and mental strength.<\/p>\n<p>Competing no matter what<\/p>\n<p>Taking holidays doesn\u2019t impair mental toughness. \u201cMost of the time I don\u2019t win when I\u2019m not feeling my best,\u201d he admitted, \u201cbut I compete and give myself the chance to win. I know I need to play at a high level, even when I\u2019m not at my best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWinning is winning,\u201d he summed up with trademark humility, \u201cbut I think what matters most is how you manage your level and emotions, especially when you\u2019re at your best or your worst.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz took an hour and a half to come and meet the media after his win.
