Claire Danes<\/a> was a vampire, sent to drain<\/a> her neighbors\u2019 sanity. <\/p>\n

The Emmy-winning actor appeared on the \u201cLate Show with Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u201d Wednesday and shared a story about how she used to be a \u201cnightmare neighbor\u201d until a \u201990s icon who lived in her building eventually called her out \u2014 in a very funny way.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had this really wonderful loft, it was like my bachelorette pad,\u201d the \u201cHomeland\u201d star said about the New York City apartment she lived in during her 20s. \u201cAnd I was dating a musician, and he had gifted me a drum set for a birthday or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best possible neighbor,\u201d Colbert remarked sarcastically.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, um, who was my downstairs neighbor but Billy Corgan<\/a> from the Smashing Pumpkins,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

After cringing to herself, Danes continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he would meet me in the elevator, and be like, \u2018Yeah, good progress, Claire. Great stuff.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you still play?\u201d Colbert asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cUm, no, I don\u2019t think I ever played again! Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh gosh,\u201d Danes said.<\/p>\n

Funnily enough, Angela Chase \u2014 Danes\u2019 breakout role in the short-lived teen drama \u201cMy So-Called Life\u201d \u2014 tells her dad at the tail end of Episode 4 that Smashing Pumpkins is one of her favorite bands<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Little did Danes know that a few years later, the band\u2019s frontman would suggest she\u2019s terrible at playing the drums.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 14 when I did the bulk of [\u2018My So-Called Life\u2019],\u201d Danes told Colbert earlier<\/a> in her interview Wednesday, noting she filmed the pilot when she was just 13. \u201cBut [I was] a baby, but I felt very mature at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
