Many reports have indicated that the New York Yankees<\/a> could be interested in outfielder Kyle Tucker.<\/p>\n

Until anything happens with Tucker, it remains uncertain where the Yankees stand on that front. However, on the surface, a player of Tucker’s caliber makes ideal sense for the Yankees, given where the organization stands.<\/p>\n

Considering the Yankees are looking to win a World Series, Tucker would certainly help with that.<\/p>\n

One thing the Yankees will have to consider is that many other teams around the league will have interest in a player of Tucker’s caliber. However, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, one of those teams isn’t expected to be his former squad, the Chicago Cubs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What is being said about Kyle Tucker?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cubs aren\u2019t likely to retain Tucker,\u201d Heyman wrote<\/a>. \u201cThe top free agent should get somewhere in the $400M neighborhood, and that\u2019s probably beyond the Cubs\u2019 budget.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cubs were surprisingly pleased with Matt Shaw\u2019s defense, so they aren\u2019t necessarily looking to replace him. Their main targets are likely pitchers.\u201d<\/p>\n

It’s very questionable that the Cubs traded what they did for Tucker just to move on from him after less than a full year, but Chicago clearly is trying to save money in this situation, and might not believe that Tucker is worth what he’s going to get.<\/p>\n

For the Yankees, they can’t worry too much about why a team doesn’t want to sign him. They can only worry about their need in the outfield and wanting to bring in a player of his caliber.<\/p>\n

Depending on the price, Tucker would be a great player to pursue.<\/p>\n
