\u201cI feel it in the room,\u201d said Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki<\/a>. \u201cGuys are kind of gripping their sticks a little too tight and not playing like we were before, and it\u2019s costing us games right now.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s four of the last five the Canadiens have lost, and a second in a row in lopsided fashion.<\/p>\n After the Los Angeles Kings came to the Bell Centre and beat them 5-1, Thursday\u2019s game started to go sideways on the shift before Newhook was tripped by Ilya Lyubushkin.\u00a0<\/p>\n It was a downward spiral after that, which was unpredictable following a strong start that saw the Canadiens produce 14 shots and 21 attempts in the first period.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a strange game tonight,\u201d said Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis.<\/p>\n It likely would\u2019ve been a good one for his team had they capitalized on at least one of several high-quality scoring chances they generated before falling down 2-0 in the fourth minute of the second period. They were coming in waves in the first, and they started the second the same way.<\/p>\n Then one breakdown cost the Canadiens a goal \u2014 and a little bit more of the confidence that propelled them to a 9-3-0 start before this recent 1-3-1 skid.<\/p>\n Lyubushkin went to the penalty box for tripping Newhook, and the Canadiens went to a power play seeking \u2014 and failing to find \u2014 their first goal in nine attempts.<\/p>\n They missed on their 10th\u00a0after the Stars made it 3-0, and right before they scored Goals 4 and 5 on their way to seven.<\/p>\n This is the same power play that looked unstoppable just four games ago, as it scored its sixth and seventh goals in Attempts 12 and 13 since adding Ivan Demidov to the top unit.<\/p>\n At the other end of the ice, Jakub Dobes<\/a>, who started the season 6-0-0 with a .930 save percentage, allowed five goals on 13 shots before giving up his net to Sam Montembeault<\/a>, who allowed the first shot he faced before allowing one on the final five the Stars took.\u00a0<\/p>\n It was hard to view any of the goals the Stars scored as bad ones to give up, but it\u2019s hard to imagine the Canadiens’ goaltenders feeling good about how many they\u2019re giving up right now.<\/p>\n St. Louis said he\u2019s not worried.<\/p>\n Hockey fans already know the name, but this is not the blog.
