As Liam Payne<\/a> pursued a solo music career after his One Direction days, Taylor Swift<\/a> was there cheering him on behind the scenes. That much is evident in a handwritten note the pop star sent him eight years ago, which is now being auctioned off.<\/p>\n

As announced by Omega Auctions on Wednesday (Nov. 12), the organizer\u2019s upcoming \u201cMusic Memorabilia\u201d sale will feature a letter addressed to the late boy band star and signed by Swift in 2017 ahead of their respective performances at that year\u2019s Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball. The item is valued at \u00a35,000-10,000 on the auction\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The letter \u2014 for which bidding will start on Dec. 2 \u2014 comes with its original envelope and custom \u201cT\u201d wax seal. Omega notes that it was acquired through a \u201cclose associate\u201d of Payne\u2019s, to whom he apparently gifted the card shortly after receiving it from Swift.<\/p>\n

Billboard has reached out to Swift\u2019s representatives for comment.<\/p>\n

The auction comes shortly after the one-year mark of the British singer\u2019s death. In October 2024, Payne died<\/a> at the age of 31 after suffering a fall from the fourth-floor balcony of his hotel room in Argentina.<\/p>\n

If Swift and Payne had a friendship during his lifetime, it wasn\u2019t a very public one \u2014 although their paths definitely would have crossed when the Eras Tour headliner dated Payne\u2019s bandmate Harry Styles circa 2012. On one December night that year, Swift and One Direction reportedly enjoyed<\/a> a karaoke outing together in New York City.<\/p>\n

Swift also collaborated with 1D\u2019s Zayn Malik on Billboard Hot 100<\/a> hit \u201cI Don\u2019t Wanna Live Forever\u201d in 2016. She would perform<\/a> the track at the following year\u2019s Jingle Bell Ball, taking the stage shortly after Payne.<\/p>\n
