However, the long-term benefits of this move were also clear to see, courtesy of a huge 55 percent rise in viewers between 18-34 years old.

Herbst also believes the Amazon deal, and other streaming experiments, opens the sport up to a broader fanbase outside of pure race streams as well, noting, “If you are ordering paper towels or books for your kids on an Amazon Prime app and it’s a NASCAR race on the face on the Amazon Prime app, those are opportunities that we did not have in 2024 and we’re able to bring to bear for the industry in 2025.”

“Earlier in the year, we launched the NASCAR in-car camera program called ‘Driver Cameras’ on HBO Max…If we can keep putting our product in places that’s unexpected for casual fans, I think that’s a good way to move our sport and our fan interests forward.”

DON’T MISS…

NASCAR’s broadcast plans for the 2026 Cup Series season were released on Wednesday, with the first 16 races all being split between FOX and FS1, the following five heading to Prime, the next seven to USA, and the final three to NBC. What was notable about the announcement was that the last 10 races were still deemed Playoffs, although the organization has yet to officially reveal what the new format will be next season.

“When you look at putting together the right media, the right strategy for our sport – or any property – there has to be some sort of a balance of broadcast cable and a streaming pattern to it,” Herbst explained. “So we’re able to achieve that, but there’s also the economic realities of making sure that your financial position for the industry came in where we needed to come in. So we’re able to accomplish that in Year 1 of the deal in 2025 and expect to grow from here.”

NASCAR’s mind-blowing $7.7 billion broadcasting rights deal with FOX Sports, NBC, Amazon, and TNT Sports was always going…

[446
128401,49,48,2332,634,82,128402,122736
0":"post-282174","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nascar","8":"tag-broadcast-rights-deal","9":"tag-ca","10":"tag-canada","11":"tag-motorsport-section","12":"tag-nascar","13":"tag-sports","14":"tag-streaming-races","15":"tag-viewership-decline
["GET
