KINGSTON, Jamaica\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Councillor for the Beecher Town Division, the People\u2019s National Party\u2019s Ian Bell made it clear during Thursday\u2019s monthly meeting of the St Ann Municipal Corporation that proceedings would not continue until he was provided with a satisfactory update on progress being made to refurbish a tank in his division.<\/p>\n

The tank, the only source of water in the community of Epworth, is contaminated with frog remains. Bell raised the issue at last month\u2019s meeting and was dissatisfied with the pace at which the matter is being dealt with.<\/p>\n

Bell stated that \u201cAt the last meeting I was told that the superintendent was instructed to go there and deal with the issue of the tank.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd today nothing has been done at that tank,\u201d stated a frustrated Bell.<\/p>\n

During Thursday\u2019s meeting Bell ignored St Ann\u2019s Bay Mayor Michael Belnavis\u2019 efforts to calm him but his outburst was temporarily quelled when the corporation\u2019s chief engineering officer, Saad Williams provided an update.<\/p>\n

According to Williams, a second visit to the tank had revealed that the budget was not enough for temporary repairs.<\/p>\n

A second estimate had to be done and they are waiting on the funds to move forward.<\/p>\n
