A little bit breezy out there, today at Princess Auto Stadium. But with the temperature settling in a seven degrees, that ain\u2019t half bad for mid-November, so we\u2019ll take it.<\/p>\n

The script got flipped for Friday\u2019s workouts, with the Alouettes holding an open practice in the morning, and the Roughriders scheduled to follow with a closed session in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll add my takeaways from their media availability a little later on but for now, here are three takeaways from Alouettes practice.<\/p>\n

HE\u2019S FINE. DON\u2019T BELIEVE HIM? WHATEVS<\/p>\n

Won\u2019t make you wait, I\u2019ll get right to the million dollar question: How did Davis Alexander<\/a> look?<\/p>\n

In a word? Fine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWay better than expected,\u201d Alexander said after practice. \u201cI know I keep saying that. People don\u2019t believe it (or) people believe it, I don\u2019t really care. You\u2019ll see on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexander took a ton of reps, he rolled left, he rolled right, he even took off on one play and went for a run to his right. He zipped short passes, he launched a bunch of bombs. No prob.<\/p>\n

When the song \u201cJump Around\u201d came blaring over the loudspeakers, he, you know, jumped around.<\/p>\n

However, there\u2019s a pretty big difference between testing that left hamstring out in practice and testing it out in a game.<\/p>\n

Like Alexander said: We\u2019ll see on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Will Mustafa Johnson suit up in this weekend\u2019s 112th Grey Cup? (Thomas Skrlj\/CFL.ca)<\/p>\n

One reporter told Montreal head coach Jason Maas that receiver Austin Mack \u2014 nursing his own hamstring problems \u2014 told him that he was a hundred percent playing in the 112th Grey Cup game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe still need to have that conversation of \u2018be honest and be up front,\u2019\u201d replied Maas. \u201cBecause what we don\u2019t need is (him) going out there, and the \u2018want to\u2019 is there, and then you can\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about standout defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson<\/a> \u2014 who missed the Eastern Final with a shoulder injury \u2014 coach was similarly cautious.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother guy that we\u2019ve got to monitor and look at and make a decision on prior to the game,\u201d said Maas.<\/p>\n

For his part, Johnson said his outlook was trending upward after a good day at practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s optimistic, positive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

I noticed that his practice jersey was torn so I asked him what that was about.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou gotta hold me to stop me,\u201d he said with a big, big grin.<\/p>\n

Held in practice? That\u2019s a pretty good sign.<\/p>\n

YOU KNOW THAT SAYING \u201cTHE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY IS MY FRIEND\u201d? HE\u2019S EXPECTING SOME OF THAT, BOMBER FANS<\/p>\n

Montreal linebacker and special teams demon Alexandre Gagn\u00e9 would like to think the Alouettes will be the beneficiaries of some secondhand love from the many, many local fans who\u2019ll be in attendance on Sunday.<\/p>\n

After all, would Blue Bombers fans really be okay with the thought of their arch rival Roughriders hoisting the Cup in their beloved team\u2019s own stadium?<\/p>\n

\u201cI played three years for the \u2018Riders, so I know how much they hate each other and they love hating each other too,\u201d said Gagn\u00e9. \u201cLike, it\u2019s a fun competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just can\u2019t see a (Bombers fan) cheering for the \u2018Riders. I just can\u2019t see it because I\u2019ve never\u2026 I don\u2019t think it\u2019s something that\u2019s possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
