The heavy metal band Dogma, who dress as nuns on stage, have imploded with accusations of \u201cmanipulation\u201d and \u201cmistreatment\u201d.<\/p>\n
Last month, three of the band\u2019s ex-members \u2013 singer Grace Jane\u00a0Pasturini\u00a0(AKA Lilith), guitarist Amber Maldonado\u00a0(Lamia)\u00a0and guitarist Patri Grief\u00a0(Rusalka)\u00a0\u2013 issued a joint statement in which\u00a0they accused the band\u2019s management and leadership of mistreating them and the band\u2019s fans.<\/p>\n
They said: \u201cWe were part of Dogma. We love this project, but\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0being sold today is not Dogma. During the tours, we saw unilateral decisions, broken promises, manipulation, mistreatment, and lies to the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
They added that \u201cthe person who now controls the project\u201d is a \u201cthreat\u201d to the future of the band. Explaining that the individual in question was not a musician, they added: \u201cHe turned the band into a brand, and people into disposable pieces. He betrayed the artists, his partners, and the fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
They then implored fans of the band to make their voices heard. \u201cDon\u2019t support\u00a0a lie,\u201d they said. \u201cThe social networks using the name Official Dogma no longer represent the real band or what we stand for.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDemand transparency. Ask for refunds if you\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0given what you\u00a0were promised.\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0let anyone manipulate you. Also, no more masks. Masks were meant to protect identity, not to replace people. The only one who needs to take off the mask is him. The power to change this story starts with your support. We will keep going.\u00a0The music,\u00a0the creativity, and the truth are on our side. We put our souls into this project, and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0why you were able to connect with us. No manager should be allowed to strip that away.<\/p>\n
In response, Dogma said:\u00a0\u201cWe are aware of recent online statements by some former, non-original members of Dogma. While we respect everyone who has contributed to our journey, we want to be clear that Dogma has always been and will continue to be much bigger than any one individual.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDogma was founded on creativity, collaboration, and evolution. Like any artistic project, change is part of our growth. Every member, past and present, has left a mark that helped shape who we are today, but Dogma\u2019s vision and music continue to move forward through the dedication of the current team and the support of our fans. Every contribution, big or small, became part of this journey and will always be appreciated and valued.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since that\u00a0initial\u00a0exchange, musician Kim Jennett claimed in another post that she was nearly hired as the new Dogma singer in 2024 but turned it down after being offered an \u201cinsulting\u201d contract.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to share my side of the story,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cBecause I know the women involved legally may be unable to share certain aspects of their story, and I have proof of that.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0speaking out in solidarity with them. As women in music,\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0got to have each other\u2019s backs and call this kind of thing\u00a0out\u00a0so it stops happening again.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat makes me sick about all of this is\u00a0the anonymity. The women are masked, silenced, and controlled by contracts that stop them from speaking out. with legal threats hanging over them if they\u00a0do\u00a0and I have the proof of all this.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe contract I was sent was one of the most insulting things I\u2019ve seen in my 15-year career. My\u00a0lawyer said it was essentially \u201cslave\u00a0labour\u201d and told me not to go anywhere near it. I completely understand that not everyone has access to legal advice, and I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0blame the women who signed. They\u00a0were sold\u00a0a dream. manipulated with false promises and hope, into signing something that\u00a0ultimately exploited\u00a0them.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople might not\u00a0realise\u00a0it\u2019s not just about the awful pay, $100 a show (frankly a joke) while the managers pocket the profits from merchandise, ticket sales, and meet and\u00a0greets.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0about control. legally bound to hide behind characters and keep mouths shut. Replaceable and exploited, all disguised behind a mask of \u201cfeminism.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Wednesday (November 12), Maldonado issued another statement, making further allegations against the band\u2019s management.<\/p>\n
\u201cManagement kept instigating fights about my work schedule,\u201d\u00a0she said. \u201cI was asked how I was compensating his company for the lost money from missing a\u00a0meet\u00a0and\u00a0greet. I do those for free. How am I being compensated for the paid work\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0missing to play shows? On my days off from\u00a0tour, I had to go out for interviews. I normally love interviews, but not when management writes pages of AI word\u00a0salad\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0supposed to follow. I was never compensated for these.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former Dogma guitarist Alice Chiara (Lamia III) has\u00a0also\u00a0addressed her\u00a0own\u00a0departure from the band.\u00a0\u201cAfter my shows in Europe, I had no choice but to step out of Dogma about a month and a half ago,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring my last experience with Dogma\u2019s management, I faced several issues, but my social networks are not the place for details.\u00a0What I want to express, though, is that the main reason behind my departure from Dogma was the U.S. tour, which I was supposed to play without being granted a work visa to perform there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was contacted just one month before leaving for almost two months of touring across the USA, Australia, and Asia. Later, I found out through social media that the upcoming April\u00a0tour had been\u00a0publicly announced\u00a0without being shared with me beforehand, and that it would last an entire month. When I said I\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0have to find out that kind of information from social media, I was told, \u201cthere is still time.\u201d<\/p>\n
NME have contacted Dogma about the further allegations against them and their management.
