{"id":284468,"date":"2025-11-15T10:00:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T10:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/284468\/"},"modified":"2025-11-15T10:00:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T10:00:15","slug":"vancouver-canucks-place-goalie-thatcher-demko-on-ir-with-lower-body-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/284468\/","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver Canucks place goalie Thatcher Demko on IR with lower-body injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">VANCOUVER \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> have placed goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/thatcher-demko\/8477967\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/thatcher-demko\/8477967\" target=\"_blank\">Thatcher Demko<\/a> on injured reserve. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">General manager Patrik Allvin announced the move Friday, saying it is retroactive to Tuesday, when the all-star netminder left Vancouver\u2019s 5-3 loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/winnipeg-jets\/52\" target=\"_blank\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> after playing just one period. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Demko started the game and gave up three goals on eight shots and did not return for the second period. The team later said he would not return due to a lower-body injury. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He also missed three games for maintenance last week, but the Canucks have said the current injury is unrelated to the reason for his maintenance days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 29-year-old goalie from San Diego, Calif., is 5-4-0 with a .903 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average this season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He struggled with injuries through much of the 2024-25 campaign, playing just 23 games and posting a 10-8-3 record with a .889 save percentage, a 2.90 goals-against average and one shutout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 14, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Canadian Press<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"VANCOUVER \u2014 The Vancouver Canucks have placed goalie Thatcher Demko on injured reserve.
