Fourth on InAlpi Arena (Not before 19:30 GMT) An incredible year for Alcaraz has been sealed by ending the year as world number one for the second time in his career.<\/p>\n The Spaniard is now aiming for more success as he aims to win the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time in his career.<\/p>\n A semi-final showdown with Auger-Aliassime now awaits as the Canadian ended Zverev\u2019s season to reach the last four in Turin.<\/p>\n The Canadian has had a sensational second half of the season and will look to reward his efforts by recording the biggest win of his season so far.<\/p>\n After claiming the year-end world number one trophy, Alcaraz said he was \u2018proud\u2019 of his efforts this season and thanked his fans for the support.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a pleasure for me [being] the No. 1,\u201d Alcaraz told the ATP website<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing the No. 1 of the world is something that I\u2019m working really hard for with my team every day. It is a goal. But I think it is a journey that you\u2019re not going through alone. It\u2019s with your whole team, with your family, with your close people behind you always supporting you in the tough and good moments, which I\u2019m really, really proud about: having such a great team.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m still really proud about the team I have right now. Some new members in the team that I\u2019m really happy and proud to share this moment with them as well. For me it\u2019s a great achievement. It means the world to me and I\u2019m just really proud and happy.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to continue because the support that I\u2019m receiving everywhere that I\u2019m going, I can\u2019t thank enough the people. We\u2019re traveling since the 1st of January until the end of November \u2014 new places, new countries, new stages and the people are always the same. He was getting a few chances but I came up with big serves to save them,\u201d Auger-Aliassime stated to the ATP website<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first set was very solid and the start of the second set was, too. I had a lot of chances. When that happens you need to focus on the present but you\u2019re aware of missed opportunities, so the match got a little tense from that moment. But I was able to hold serve and in the tie-break it was tight till the end.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a high-value tournament for players. It\u2019s like a grand finale and when you have a look at the list of champions, there have been many No. 1s. You want to be in the final but I\u2019ll have to go through a great player to do that. It was a very special day playing in front of the home crowd, and against Ben it\u2019s always a tough challenge. When he comes up with a huge serve, you cannot do a lot, so you have to accept it. I just committed to the way I wanted to play from the first point to the last. A couple days ago I didn\u2019t. That\u2019s what hurt so much,\u201d De Minaur explained to the ATP website<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cToday I knew that no matter what, I wanted to be proud of my decision making, my aggressive mindset, and I wanted to go out there and try to win the match.<\/p>\n \u201cBut more than anything, regardless of the result today, I had made peace with myself. That was a big, big moment. I knew the way I wanted to play. I was going to commit to it from the first point to the last. I was okay with the result not going my way.
