As the Green Bay Packers<\/a> face the New York Giants<\/a> in Week 11 of the 2025 season, fans may hear a familiar voice on Fox\u2019s broadcast.<\/p>\n

Drew Brees, the former star quarterback for the New Orleans Saints<\/a>, is set to return to broadcasting for the game. He recently joined Fox Sports, filling a vacant role on one of its NFL teams.<\/p>\n

Brees, who retired from the NFL in 2021, has been in and out of broadcasting since, and he is now set to continue his work as an analyst for the remainder of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

Brees will be making his return to the booth for the game after signing with Fox earlier in November.<\/p>\n

Why is Drew Brees an announcer for Fox?<\/p>\n

On Friday, Nov. 7,\u00a0\u00a0The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand<\/a>\u00a0reported that Fox Sports was officially parting ways with Mark Sanchez, who has faced Level 5 felony battery charges stemming from\u00a0an incident in Indianapolis, in which he was stabbed and hospitalized following an alleged physical confrontation with a 69-year-old truck driver. Sanchez was the only one charged in the case.<\/p>\n

With Sanchez, an NFL game analyst, no longer working for Fox, a vacancy opened in the network\u2019s gameday booths. Sanchez had been with Fox for four seasons and was taken off the network while recovering from a stabbing that initially left him in critical condition. Since 2024, he had been on the broadcast team with Adam Amin.<\/p>\n

In the short term, Fox shuffled its broadcasters, having Mark Schlereth and Brady Quinn fill in as analysts during Sanchez\u2019s absence. The network announced his full-time replacement on Nov. 7: Drew Brees.<\/p>\n

Fox said Brees would join Amin and Erin Andrews\u2019 co-host, making his debut on Nov. 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrew is one of the best to ever play the game, and we couldn\u2019t be more excited to have his prolific credentials and unique insights as part of our coverage on Sundays,\u201d Fox Sports president of production Brad Zager\u00a0said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome him to the FOX Sports family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brees, 46, joined Fox with experience as an analyst, along with being on studio shows for Fox and ESPN previously.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the opportunity FOX has given me in the booth and with their team,\u201d Brees said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cI hope my passion for this game is reflected in the knowledge and insights I provide to the fans each Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to The Athletic,<\/a> Brees’ deal with Fox Sports is “expected to be for multiple years.” He will work as an analyst through the rest of the 2025 season and is “signed up to call games through at least next season.”<\/p>\n

Drew Brees previous broadcasting roles<\/p>\n

Brees first joined the broadcast landscape in 2021, not long after his retirement from the NFL, as a color analyst for Notre Dame football and “Football Night in America” alongside Mike Tirico for NBC. However, he left that role in May 2022, as the two sides parted ways as they didn’t find much success.<\/p>\n

Since then, Brees has appeared on ESPN’s “First Take” as a contributor, as well as on Fox programming as a studio analyst.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before he signed his new Fox deal, Brees was also scheduled to be an analyst for Netflix’s Christmas Day coverage. According to Front Office Sports, <\/a>Fox gave Brees the green light to continue with that coverage after signing, despite the network typically having strict rules about its announcers not working for other networks.<\/p>\n
