{"id":287218,"date":"2025-11-16T17:58:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T17:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/287218\/"},"modified":"2025-11-16T17:58:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-16T17:58:08","slug":"topuria-rips-makhachev-most-boring-thing-in-this-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/287218\/","title":{"rendered":"Topuria rips Makhachev: &#8216;Most boring thing in this game&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria is letting it be known he wasn&#8217;t impressed with newly crowned welterweight champ Islam Makhachev&#8217;s performance at UFC 322.<\/p>\n<p>Topuria tore into Makhachev on social media after the latter dominated Jack Della Maddalena on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York, earning a unanimous decision win to become the 11th two-division champion in UFC history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Islam, you need something you can&#8217;t train: emotion,&#8221; Topuria <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Topuriailia\/status\/1989936450054590889\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote<\/a> on X. &#8220;You&#8217;re the most boring thing in this game. Every day I&#8217;m more certain I put you to sleep.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Makhachev suffocated Della Maddalena on the ground for almost the entire fight, completing four takedowns and amassing over 19 minutes of control time.<\/p>\n<p>With the victory, Makhachev tied Anderson Silva for the longest winning streak in UFC history (16).<\/p>\n<p>Makhachev is only below Topuria in the promotion&#8217;s pound-for-pound rankings. The UFC targeted a superfight between Makhachev and Topuria earlier this year, but it didn&#8217;t come to fruition because Makhachev decided to move up in weight. Makhachev vacated the lightweight title in May and then Topuria captured the vacant belt a month later with a knockout win over Charles Oliveira.<\/p>\n<p>Topuria said in June he planned to lobby for a welterweight title shot if Makhachev won the belt.<\/p>\n<p>Topuria also slammed Della Maddalena, who suffered his first UFC loss in what was his first title defense.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jack needs an entire camp dedicated just to wrestling,&#8221; Topuria wrote. &#8220;What a disappointment of a champion.
