\"Justin Sophie Gr\u00e9goire is making it clear she won\u2019t let Justin Trudeau<\/a>\u2019s highly public romance with Katy Perry<\/a> derail her peace. Speaking on the \u201cArlene Is Alone\u201d podcast, hosted by Arlene Dickinson, the 50-year-old public speaker addressed the attention surrounding her ex-husband\u2019s new relationship, her first public acknowledgment since the story broke.Asked how she \u201cstays cool\u201d amid the headlines, Gr\u00e9goire didn\u2019t pretend to be unaffected. \u201cWe\u2019re all human beings and stuff affects us,\u201d she said, calling it \u201cnormal\u201d to feel the emotional impact. Still, she noted that her response is where she draws the line: \u201cHow you react to stuff, is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.\u201dThroughout the conversation, Gr\u00e9goire emphasized that while Trudeau and Perry\u2019s romance has stirred complicated emotions, the only thing she can control is her conduct. \u201cI\u2019m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers, we\u2019re humans. What I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.\u201d She continued: \u201cDoes it mean that I don\u2019t have emotions? That I don\u2019t cry, scream, laugh? No!\u201dShe was equally candid about giving herself room to feel. \u201cI\u2019ll let myself be disappointed by someone, I\u2019ll let myself be angry, be sad. And I know for a fact how important it is, as a mental health advocate, to feel those emotions,\u201d she told Dickinson.But she refuses to live in a reactive spiral: \u201cYou can stay in that reactive mode, but you\u2019ll suffer the consequences. I\u2019m also learning at 50 that people will meet life as where they are inside of them \u2026 it\u2019s your choice to see that and be like, \u2018How am I going to let that affect my happiness?\u2019\u201dGr\u00e9goire and Trudeau, who were married from 2005 to 2023, continue to co-parent their three children, Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. \u201cWe have separate lives, but we have one family life,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I think that we need two individuals in a couple \u2026 to detangle.\u201d She added, \u201cIt\u2019s not always easy to live, but it\u2019s very adult.\u201dAs for Trudeau and Perry, their connection first surfaced in July after they were spotted dining together in Montreal. The rumours were confirmed when photos emerged showing the pair kissing aboard Perry\u2019s yacht.
