Back in March, during the Players Championship, something of note was happening on the field.\u00a0 A former LIV golfer was playing at a PGA even<\/a>t.\u00a0 Laurie Canter was making his debut while also accumulating points for his very own Tour Card.\u00a0 Now, as the year is coming to a close, Laurie Canter has officially done it and earned his Tour Card.<\/p>\n

From LIV To PGA<\/p>\n

Laurie Canter was one of the original batch of LIV golfers back when the league debuted in 2022.\u00a0 At the time, he was playing on the DP World Tour, which is where he would find himself in the OWGR top 100.\u00a0 While on LIV, Canter struggled to make the cut and found himself slipping in the league.\u00a0 He was cut in 2024 and was replaced by Anthony Kim.\u00a0 Canter then proceeded to move back to the DP.\u00a0 When he returned, his game quickly began to improve, and he found himself in the top 50 on the OWGR.\u00a0 After riding out the one-year ban the PGA Tour has on anyone who played in a LIV Golf tournament, that\u2019s when Canter started playing on the Tour.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although Canter left LIV Golf for a less-than-ideal reason, he never held a grudge for the league.<\/a>\u00a0 Unlike Eugenio Chacarra, who would slam the league<\/a> for broken promises and placing more focus on the big names.\u00a0 Canter\u2019s main concern for the leagues is how, when LIV was founded, there was some hostility between the players.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canter Going For A Tour Card<\/p>\n

2025 became the year that Canter had a massive goal: a PGA Tour Card with his name on it.\u00a0 He\u2019s been working really hard at it, too.\u00a0 Although he slipped in the global rankings a bit, he kept at it.\u00a0 Canter managed to make it in the top 50 for many of the DP tournaments he has played in.\u00a0 Just this past weekend, he finished T3 in the DP World Tour Championship.\u00a0 With the points from that event secured, he finally made it and will be playing a full season on the PGA Tour in 2026.\u00a0 He is the first player to go from LIV Golf to an official Tour member.\u00a0 Up until now, he was just one of the non-member players who would find his way into an event.\u00a0 With card in hand, he won\u2019t have to worry about securing a place during the regular season.<\/p>\n

Laurie Canter Making History<\/p>\n

Canter was already making sports history when he made his debut in the Players Championship.\u00a0 Since he appeared at the TPC Sawgrass, more players like James Piot started following.\u00a0 Despite the obstacles, it is still possible for players to go from LIV Golf to the rest of the sport.\u00a0 A key point to note is that the league is still struggling significantly<\/a>.\u00a0 Today, however, Canter has made history by being the first player to make the full switch from LIV Golf to the PGA Tour.\u00a0 He overcame the odds, and now fans can look forward to seeing what he brings to the Tour during the 2026 season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
