open in a new tab\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"\" data-uw-original->Sign up and watch CFL games on CFL+ in the U.S. and Internationally<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true that Harris\u2019 quick-thinking and equally fast delivery played a part in denying the Montreal Alouettes\u2019 defence much of a presence in the Saskatchewan backfield, but it\u2019s equally true that the fortifications up front helped Harris stay safe while getting his feet under him in the early going.<\/p>\n<p>The Als sent some \u201cfunky\u201d blitz packages at the Roughriders\u2019 offensive line, Harris said, and yet he had time to climb the pocket anyway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew something was special,\u201d said head coach Corey Mace of the unit, feeling the vibe since way back in training camp and even before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOffensive line came to Saskatchewan a week before camp to watch film and work out together,\u201d he said. \u201cSpecial group.\u201d That was something that right tackle \u2014 and 2025 Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfl.ca\/players\/jermarcus-hardrick\/160792\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-ga-category=\"Clicks - Article\" data-ga-action=\"article-player-link\" data-ga-opt-label=\"Jermarcus Hardrick\">Jermarcus Hardrick<\/a> remembered as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe came in early,\u201d said the 11-year vet, in his second season with Saskatchewan. \u201cWe wanted to be the difference in this team, and I think we were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked if this was his unit\u2019s best performance of the season, at precisely the right time, the man they call \u201cYoshi\u201d just smiled and replied:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know, we\u2019re champs, man. I haven\u2019t looked at the film, haven\u2019t thought about it. I\u2019m ready to go celebrate with my teammates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Centre Logan Ferland, looking exhausted but very satisfied, deadpanned that things could have been better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s some things to clean up,\u201d he said. \u201cWatch film, clean it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then he smiled. \u201cNo, I\u2019m kidding.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not only did the pass protection allow for Harris to stand tall against a ferocious defence, the line paved the way for running back AJ Ouellette, who finished the night with 83 yards on 17 carries, and for short yardage quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfl.ca\/players\/tommy-stevens\/165599\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-ga-category=\"Clicks - Article\" data-ga-action=\"article-player-link\" data-ga-opt-label=\"Tommy Stevens\">Tommy Stevens<\/a>, who scored two touchdowns on sneaks at the goal line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just so proud of that group,\u201d said Stevens. \u201cI\u2019m so thankful to be a part of them. You know, they accepted me with open arms. And those guys are awesome, man. I love those guys, and I\u2019m just so proud of our group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Right guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfl.ca\/players\/jacob-brammer\/167877\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-ga-category=\"Clicks - Article\" data-ga-action=\"article-player-link\" data-ga-opt-label=\"Jacob Brammer\">Jacob Brammer<\/a>, in his second year on the Saskatchewan line, felt that a September game against the Als, in which the \u2018Riders got blasted pretty good, served as pretty good motivation for the rematch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took it personal from the last time we played them,\u201d said Brammer. \u201cI mean, they\u2019re really good defensive group, and it was just something we made a point of during the week. We wanted to keep him (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfl.ca\/players\/trevor-harris\/156305\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-ga-category=\"Clicks - Article\" data-ga-action=\"article-player-link\" data-ga-opt-label=\"Trevor Harris\">Trevor Harris<\/a>) upright and really just try to set the tone from the jump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That they did.
