Dave Mustaine<\/a> has revealed that he would like for Megadeth<\/a>\u2018s final concert to take place in space \u2013 find out more below.<\/p>\n

The legendary thrash metal band\u00a0announced their plans to retire earlier this year with a farewell album and tour.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,\u201d Mustaine explained in a social media post. \u201cMost of them don\u2019t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that\u2019s where I\u2019m at in my life right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, the album has been previewed by two singles: \u2018Tipping Point\u2019 and \u2018I Don\u2019t Care\u2019, the latter of which released last week.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

While the band have yet to reveal all the details of their farewell tour \u2013 except a handful of dates for 2026 \u2013 Mustaine shared in a chat with Metal Hammer<\/a> that he would like for Megadeth\u2019s final show to take place in space.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope we\u2019ll be playing up in space,\u201d he revealed. \u201cI think that will be a really fitting climax. And I\u2019m not talking about on the side of a vomit comet. A gig on the Moon, a full moon landing, that would be cool. I saw they sent up a bunch of celebrities into space and I thought \u2018Well, if them, why not me?\u2019, you know?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just watching how that all progresses. I know Elon Musk and Richard Branson were working on interstellar travel. I think people are going to be travelling to space a lot sooner than you think,\u201d Mustaine continued.\u00a0\u201cPeople already travel over 40,000 feet altitude, and when you get to that kind of atmosphere you\u2019re basically already in space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mustaine also doubled-down, saying he believes people will leave Earth to live on other planets in the not-too-distant future: \u201cI do think it\u2019s going to happen. The question is, are people going to be able to inhabit the moon? Personally I\u2019d never want to live on a planet away from the world we live in. People were talking about a trip to Mars, but all I can imagine is somebody suddenly going \u2018Oh! I forgot my toothbrush!\u2019 That would be the longest flight ever!’\u201d<\/p>\n

The guitarist\u2019s comments come after Katy Perry<\/a> earlier this year drew flak for\u00a0travelling to space to reveal the \u2018Lifetimes\u2019 tour setlist<\/a>. Social media\u00a0branded the flight as \u201cwealth tourism\u201d<\/a>, and the trip garnered some criticism from the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, who\u00a0said she was \u201cdisgusted\u201d by the flight<\/a>, along with\u00a0food chain Wendy\u2019s.<\/a><\/p>\n

In other news, Mustaine recently shared that Megadeth\u2019s farewell run of shows could last \u201cfor another three to five years\u201d<\/a>.
