Team Sussex hope to expand their American footprint, insiders say \u2014 by luring Prince Harry\u2019s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband to California.<\/p>\n

With her parents\u2019 downfall, 35-year-old Eugenie has been leaning on royal rebel Harry and his wife, Meghan, for support, sources say, and they\u2019re ready to welcome her with open arms.<\/p>\n

\u201cEugenie is feeling very vulnerable,\u201d says an insider. \u201cShe by no means wants to turn her back on London or the royal family, but she also feels like she ought to start preparing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry and Meghan have both said they could absolutely make a place for her in California, either with Harry and his Invictus Games or with Meghan and her brand. Plus, it\u2019s very uncomfortable for Eugenie in London at the moment when everything with Andrew is so front of mind for nearly everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

As readers know, King Charles yanked the titles of Eugenie\u2019s father, the former Prince Andrew, and ordered him and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to move out of the 30-room mansion they\u2019ve shared rent-free for years.<\/p>\n

Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank, 39, share two young sons \u2014 August, 4, and Ernest, 2 \u2014 and split their time between London and Portugal for Jack\u2019s job. Despite the distance, she\u2019s remained close to Harry, insiders say.<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry has always had a soft spot for Eugenie. She\u2019s like a little sister to him and he\u2019s very protective,\u201d adds a source.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s determined to make sure she comes through this crisis without too many scars. Selfishly, he\u2019d love her to relocate. He\u2019d be thrilled to have his kids grow up with family members around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at this stage Harry and Meghan are working on getting Eugenie and Jack over for a visit. Once they\u2019re face to face, he\u2019s going to launch into a hard sell for them to make the move permanently.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they do, it will go down like a lead balloon with Harry\u2019s brother, William. He\u2019ll no doubt see it as Eugenie and Jack siding with Harry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not Harry\u2019s motivation. He genuinely wants them in his world. But, of course, it will be satisfying if he can get a \u2018win\u2019 over his brother.\u201d<\/p>\n
