The 29-year-old athlete is in stable condition despite the bullet going through his abdomen and becoming stuck in his right lung, ABC 7 NY<\/a> and ABC News<\/a> reported on Monday, Nov. 17.\n<\/p>\n He has undergone several surgeries following the shooting, the outlets reported.\n<\/p>\n NYPD officers maintain a security cordon after New York Jets NFL cornerback Kris Boyd was shot.<\/p>\n Kyle Mazza\/Anadolu via Getty<\/p>\n The incident reportedly happened in New York City at approximately 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 16. The sports star was with two of his teammates outside of Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street.\n<\/p>\n Although a motive remains unclear, authorities believe the altercation could have occurred after the suspect allegedly tried to steal Boyd’s necklace, according to ABC 7 NY. The news station also shared surveillance footage<\/a> of the suspect, whose identity has not yet been made public.\n<\/p>\n Boyd, who was previously in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital, has spoken with police since the incident, the outlet shared.\n<\/p>\n PEOPLE did not immediately receive a response from the New York Police Department.\n<\/p>\n \u201cWe are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,\u201d a spokesperson for the New York Jets previously told PEOPLE.\n<\/p>\n Several Jets players have spoken out in support of Boyd following the incident, urging prayers and wishing him a swift recovery.\n<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! The safety of our customers and employees is of utmost importance and we take tremendous pride in having cultivated a safe and welcoming dining environment for all.”\n<\/p>\n
