I said Francis you didn\u2019t get it for this, that [reason] and he\u2019s in my office and he\u2019s arguing with me. I\u2019m like this guy got this, this guy got that and this is why. The conversation\u2019s over, and I\u2019m starting to leave, and he grabs me by my shirt and pushes me back in my office and I said \u2018dude, get your f*cking hands off me.\u2019 I could see in this guy\u2019s face and in his eyes and the way he\u2019s acting who this guy really f*cking is.\u201d<\/p>\n
White then alleged that there was another physical altercation between Ngannou and UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell, who handles matchmaking duties and a lot of contractual negotiations for fighters competing in the UFC.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy guy Hunter [Campbell], they were talking about something, it might have even been that same thing [about the bonus],\u201d White said. \u201cAnd when Hunter started to walk away, Francis grabbed him by the f*cking back of his collar and f*cking pulled him back and said \u2018we\u2019re not done talking yet.\u2019 This guy\u2019s not a good f*cking guy. He\u2019s a bad guy.\u201d<\/p>\n
White said he had concerns about Ngannou dating back several years when he earned his first shot at the UFC heavyweight title with a fight booked against Stipe Miocic in 2018.<\/p>\n
Before the fight ever happened, White claims that Ngannou was effectively already plotting his celebration with a demand rather than a request about some special treatment he expected to receive.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he\u2019s going in to fight Stipe Miocic in Boston, and he knows he\u2019s going to f*cking kill Stipe,\u201d White said. \u201cSo after the press conference, we\u2019re walking down this hallway and he comes over to me and he grabs me and he says \u2018let me tell you what\u2019s going to happen\u2019 \u2014 his English is f*cking great, no language barrier whatsoever \u2014 \u2018when this fight\u2019s over, you\u2019re going to book me a private plane to Paris.\u2019 I laughed and said \u2018oh yeah.\u2019 He said \u2018I\u2019m not joking, you\u2019re going to book me a private plane to Paris.\u2019 I said OK.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe go our own ways. Stipe Miocic beats the f*cking shit out of him. Beats the shit out of him. That ended that whole conversation. I should have f*cking cut him that day.\u201d<\/p>\n
White admits he actually wanted to release Ngannou from his contract on another occasion, but the UFC matchmakers effectively talked him out of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told my guys I wanted to cut him early and two of my matchmaker guys are like \u2018no, you don\u2019t understand,\u2019\u201d White said. \u201cI said guys, let me tell you a story. When somebody shows you who they are, believe them. Believe them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The relationship between the UFC and Ngannou finally broke down when negotiations were ongoing about a new deal after he defeated Ciryl Gane in his first title defense as undisputed champion.<\/p>\n
At the time, Ngannou was pushing for the opportunity to compete in boxing as well as UFC while also laying out other demands he hoped to receive as part of his new contract. In the end, Ngannou left the UFC in free agency before signing a deal to join the roster at PFL but it\u2019s safe to say White wasn\u2019t all that sorry that the split happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrancis Ngannou is a bad guy,\u201d White said. \u201cHe\u2019s not a good guy. He plays the whole \u2018I don\u2019t understand the language\u2019 and tries to come off that he\u2019s a f*cking nice guy. People go \u2018oh it\u2019s the language barrier probably.\u2019 There\u2019s no f*cking language barrier with this guy. He\u2019s a bad guy.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow he\u2019s over and he\u2019s done a deal with PFL and Saudi Arabia and now he\u2019s asking to fight, \u2018me and Jon Jones need to fight.\u2019 I\u2019m sure they wish they never f*cking signed him. I don\u2019t have to hear one word from any of those guys over there to know because I know.
