Warren Beatty is living like a recluse in his Hollywood Hills mansion \u2014 and sources tell Globe his big sis, Shirley MacLaine, is determined to snap him out of his funk.<\/p>\n

At 91, the famously feisty redhead is still a firecracker compared to her 88-year-old brother and the two remain extremely close.<\/p>\n

But as readers know, Warren rarely goes out and hasn\u2019t acted in nearly a decade \u2014 when he ironically played notorious recluse Howard Hughes in the 2016 flick Rules Don\u2019t Apply.<\/p>\n

Now Oscar winner Shirley \u2014 who was spotted by Globe running errands on Nov. 4 looking full of energy \u2014 is stepping in to take action.<\/p>\n

\u201cShirley\u2019s worried sick about Warren. She hates that he\u2019s hidden away in the house day in and day out,\u201d reveals an insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s in such a sharp contrast to her. She\u2019s three years older and she\u2019s out and about all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s living in California after a long spell in New Mexico and she drops into all the posh places in Malibu, usually for lunch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has a caregiver with her, but she makes it a point to go out because she believes it\u2019s crucial to continue to enjoy life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe doesn\u2019t let any health issues or her insecurities hold her back. She just wishes Warren could do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

After his breakout role in 1961\u2019s Splendor in the Grass, Warren went on to an award-winning career as a writer, director, producer and actor with the hits Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait and Bonnie and Clyde to his credit.<\/p>\n

But he was nowhere to be seen when his actress wife of 33 years, Annette Bening, 67, caught their daughter Ella\u2019s Broadway debut in March 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cLately Shirley\u2019s been saying she\u2019s going to barge in on Warren and insist on him coming to lunch with her, but she\u2019d never follow through,\u201d adds the insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cWarren does what he wants, and always has, end of story. All Shirley can do is hope that one of these days he\u2019ll take her up on her lunch invitation. That would mean the world to her.\u201d<\/p>\n
