As a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and 37-time race winner, Team Penske\u2019s Joey Logano knows that haters come with the territory. But in the case of the 35-year-old, this is only exemplified by his vastly differing personalities both on and off the track.<\/p>\n

When not behind the wheel of his No. 22 Ford, the father of three is calm and personable, regularly showing these sides of his personality on his social media, occasionally racing around his property with his family<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But once the helmet is on, as far as Logano<\/a> is concerned, \u201cIt\u2019s kill mode,\u201d he recently told Donut<\/a> after the conclusion of the 2025 Cup Series<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

Whenever his competitiveness is triggered, \u201cit becomes about winning and losing. And as soon as that becomes an option, there\u2019s only one thing I want to do, and that\u2019s to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so as a competitor, that’s the way you have to be, right? You’re out there, it’s kill mode, right? Like you were out there to win. I don’t care about anybody else at that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

That being said, Logano is acutely aware of how his loved ones view him once the helmet is off, admitting that he doesn\u2019t \u201cwant to be that kind of person away from the racetrack, I don’t believe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you’re kind of someone that doesn’t care about anybody else, you’re not the person that I think I want to be, or I want my family to see me as either. But as a racecar driver, you get to do that. You get to flip the switch. Like, you get to do things on the racetrack that would typically put you in jail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Such behavior may not land Logano in jail, but it could well land him in the doghouse of some NASCAR fans, eager to see the three-time champion knocked off his perch. But \u2018haters\u2019 are a given in any competitive environment, especially in an age where social media is so prevalent in every aspect of daily life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Logano, however, merely lets such hatred slide, noting how different his on and off-track personalities are, leading him to \u201ckind of understand why I’m probably not the most liked guy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI could tell when I get introduced that I get booed, but I also got a lot of people that cheer for me. But I understand that they’re booing the person that’s driving the car, not the person that’s out of the car,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Logano has no issues with booing or jeering, admitting that he simply does not care what others think of him. \u201cMy job is on the racetrack, not to make people like me. My job is to win,\u201d he said. \u201cThat’s what I get paid to do. So if you don’t like that, I don’t care\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can’t let people affect you negatively if they don’t really know who you are. The people I actually care about are the ones I care about their opinion, right? Their opinion matters to me. If I know them and they know me, I care what they think. But outside of that, whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n
