Team Penske\u2019s Joey Logano has long been one of the lone defenders of the existing NASCAR playoff format, setting him apart from the majority of the field, both past and present, such as Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old\u2019s fondness for the 10-race four-round format<\/a>, which included a winner-takes-all championship race, is perhaps surprising given that no other driver had benefitted more from it, winning all three of his titles in the format \u2014 with both Kyle Busch<\/a> and reigning champion Kyle Larson<\/a> having won twice a piece.<\/p>\n Despite Logano<\/a>\u2019s desire for things to remain as they are, change is coming in 2026, although exactly how NASCAR<\/a> plans to crown its champion remains unknown. While the organization has revealed that it will still hold a 10-race playoff, with the championship race returning to Homestead-Miami Speedway after six years at Phoenix Raceway, Logano recently told the Donut podcast<\/a>, \u201cI don’t think anyone knows exactly what it’s going to be yet.\u201d<\/p>\n Regardless, after admitting of the playoffs that he \u201cliked where it was,\u201d the 37-time race winner added that fans won\u2019t hear him complaining whichever direction NASCAR takes the playoffs in 2026, with the goal remaining the same. He just finally wants to know what the rules are.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m okay with whatever, whatever they do is that’s still going to be the rules. And then we got to go figure out how to win, right,\u201d Logano said. \u201cLike it’s not my job to complain about what we have or what we’re going to have. Like my job is to say, \u2018Okay, this is the rules. Okay, let’s figure out the strategy to win this thing. Like, how do we do that?\u2019<\/p>\n
