That drops them to 3-6-1 on home ice this season.

For a while, it looked like there could be some good Goldeneyes energy in Rogers Arena. The Canucks were largely the better team against the Stars. But, once again, a couple of defensive breakdowns thwarted what was otherwise a good effort.

“It was probably our best game of the year,” head coach Adam Foote told reporters postgame.

“We frustrated them. In the second period, we pretty much dominated that period.”

Unfortunately, they couldn’t carry that momentum into the third period. Despite outshooting the Stars 25-14 through two periods, Dallas began the third with the advantage on the shot clock.

They outshot Vancouver 7-2 in the final frame before Colin Blackwell buried the eventual game-winning goal after an ill-timed pinch from Tom Willander.

Colin “Colin Blackwell” Blackwell 😮‍💨 pic.twitter.com/zWd1iGePoF

— Dallas Stars (@DallasStars) November 21, 2025

Down a goal, the Canucks only got two more shots on goal before Mikko Rantanen’s jaw-dropping backhand spin-o-rama sealed the victory for Dallas.

MIKKO RANTANEN THAT WAS DISGUSTING! 🤮 pic.twitter.com/4stk25SEFK

— NHL (@NHL) November 21, 2025

Despite the Canucks failing to get much on net in the third until they were down two goals, Foote defended his team’s performance in the final 20 minutes.

“I didn’t have an issue with our third period today,” he said. “We had a mistake, a pass got away from one of our d-men, we have to get it deep there.”

“Even though they pushed, I still didn’t feel like they had much. We gave a breakaway to their guy, a mistake… that doesn’t mean we had a bad third period.
