Tommy ‘the Governor’ Hyde make his return to his native Cork for his 14th professional fight in three years when he fights Mexican Paul Valenzuela in a Super Middleweight eight-round bout in a Nowhere2Hyde Promotion event at the GUC Parochial Arena on Saturday night, November 29.<\/p>\n

Hyde is currently unbeaten with a record of 13-0 and recently beat tough Patrick Allotey, who hails from Ghana, by split decision in Boston last September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, this was a great learning experience for Tommy and as he rises up the rankings, he will be expected to participate in more difficult fights if he wants to reach his goal and fight for titles.<\/p>\n

ROLE MODEL<\/p>\n

The very likeable Hyde is a real role model for all young aspiring boxers.<\/p>\n

He is a very humble and approachable young man but takes his profession very seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n He travels to Manchester Monday to Friday to train under world-renowned coach Lee Beard.\n <\/p>\n

Tommy is excited to be headlining this event that is promoted by his father, Gary, and he wants to put on a show for his loyal supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really looking forward to be fighting in front of the Cork public again after two years, and to be honest, it will a special night for my family as my father Gary is promoting the event,\u201d Tommy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy opponent, Paul Valenzuela, is a very experienced fighter with a record of 28 wins, 13 losses and one draw, with 18 of these fights coming by KO, so I\u2019m really expecting a very difficult fight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“He has shared a ring with different world champions and an Olympic gold medalist, so he will be a big step up for me, but when do you ever get an easy night from a Mexican,\u201d Tommy said with a cheeky smile.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been working very hard since my last fight in Boston with my trainer Lee Beard in Manchester and have been sparring European light-heavyweight champion Lyndon Arthur, who is still unbeaten so far in his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy training has gone up two or three levels since my last fight and so it should be if I am to reach my goal of fighting for title next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

MOVING UP<\/p>\n

“This will be also my last eight-round fight, as I will be moving up to ten rounds next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter this fight, I want to fight for titles and don\u2019t really mind where that may be, whether that be in Ireland, England, Europe or America.<\/p>\n

\n I don\u2019t mind fighting anyone, anywhere, as I have full confidence in my own ability.”\n <\/p>\n

Also on the stacked card will be fellow Cork fighters.<\/p>\n

MMA fighter Pa Lehane is making his professional boxing debut in a light middleweight bout. Former Irish senior amateur champion with Golden Gloves Boxing Club, Brian Long, will be taking part in his third professional fight, looking to go three and zero.<\/p>\n

Slovakian Vladimir Belujsky, who is based in Mitchelstown, will be looking to put on a good performance on the night in a cruiserweight contest.<\/p>\n

Also on the card will be Alan Phelan from Kildare and he will be fighting in a super featherweight contest. There will be a heavyweight bout where French native Mickael Diallo will want to continue his recent good form with 21 wins and only two losses, 18 of those victories coming by KO.<\/p>\n

Promoter Gary Hyde is really excited to bring this event to Cork and has big plans to put on a spectacular show for the Cork public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis should be an excellent night of boxing in a venue that I fought in with Fr Horgan\u2019s BC as a youngster, and my father, Tony, did also in the early ’60s,\u201d Gary said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe plan at the moment is put on three of four amateur fights on with Cork senior lads and give them a chance to fight in a packed hall under the bright lights.<\/p>\n

\u201cTommy will be headlining this event, and I\u2019m so proud of his achievements to date as he is a great kid who works so hard to get better every day.<\/p>\n
